Service was amazing, food was ok, a bit greasy for my taste! The salsa buffet was delish!

Best Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. My favorite breakfast dish is the migas plate. Their dinner menu is also delicious. The staff is very friendly.

Doordashed for a taco lunch when in town. Some stars and some just ok but overall solid. Highlights:- Trash taco: seemed crazy but had to get it. Beans, guisada, bacon, egg, and cheese was a lot but it was quite delish. 4.5 stars- Chicken bicycle heaven: grilled chicken, long slice of bacon, avocado and cheese was great- Flour tortilla: homemade and a bit thicker I enjoyed. 4 stars- Grilled chicken tacos: tender and tasty and plentiful (ordered a chicken fajita taco without the onions and peppers to make it plain for my picky kid). 4 stars- Carne guisada: nephew liked the tender stewed meat. 4 stars- La costra: hub liked the fried cheese with the bacon and steak. 4 starsMidlights:- Migas: was excited for this mixed scrambled omelette style with peppers, but didn't have much flavor so was just ok.- Picadillo: didn't have ton of flavor and was bit dry. 3 stars- Chicken flautas: nephew's fiancée said they tasted like the frozen HEB version--but she does like those. 3 starsLowlights:- Corn tortillas: thought they would be better homemade version, but standard thin yellow shell.Good lunch overall and would return for the highlight items.

I had been back here a couple of times since the hair & foil incident... and it was okay. However, one day, after having some bloodwork done down the road, i stopped here to grab 2 tacos to-go. I was in a fasted state for 14 hours, so i was lethargic, headachy & just needed something to eat right away. After i ordered, i sat down & waited. I remember just sort of thinking about all the things needing to be done, but i was feeling so tired...all of a sudden my thoughts were interrupted by some screaming man, yelling at the top of his lungs in my face " WAKE UP!!! NUMBER 24 - PAY ATTENTION!!!" I snapped out of my daze & customers were staring at me & a group of old men were looking & giggling like school children. I was slightly embarrassed but more annoyed with this rude behavior - especially from a person who appeared to be a manager no less. I would've stood up for myself any other day, but i was feeling so run down, i didn't have the energy to get a refund & go somewhere else. What is also confusing is that the order taker gave me a plastic number to put on the table... the man handing out the orders merely had to LOOK at the numbers on the table. The place is very small. There are not many tables. It is not hard to look for the numbers. And despite all that, i really don't understand how this manager had the nerve to yell at me like that. Apparently he doesn't care for my business, so i have never gone back & the reason why I'm writing this review is because i have family moving to the area & over the holidays they were asking about this Tacos Gueros/Guerkos, so i told the story of how i was yelled at & belittled. I will choose to spend my money where i am treated with a decent level of respect. Not yelled at by a lazy manager full of machismo. As for the food - it is just average and even slightly below.

Something has happened here. First they changed their name to Los Guerkos. Adding a "K". I assume a change in ownership.Menu is the same - salsa bar a bit different and not bad at all.The tacos are not as good as they used to be.

In the area for work, and hungry for breakfast tacos, I looked to Google for answers. I also was in a mood to try something new, and not a chain restaurant.Google pointed me toward Los Tacos Gueros, and Yelp rated them highly. I pointed my car in that direction and headed that way. I arrived in the parking lot, parked, and went inside. Upon walking in, two ladies engaged in conversation made eye contact with me, then continued with their conversation. A well kept restaurant with many patrons seated and eating. So far, I had high hopes. As I approached the counter, the two ladies engaged in conversation acted as if I was not there. It was as if I was a ghost. There was a male employee (maybe a manager?) standing to them, so I glared at him to see if he might be able to take my order. The male employee prompted the two ladies break up the conversation and recognize there were customers at the counter. Now, noticing I existed, a nice young lady took my order. I ordered two bacon and egg tacos, no cheese, and requested crispy bacon. Also, a soda to wash it down with. I paid my $8.44, which included a tip, and the two ladies immediately reengaged in conversation. I usually never tip to go orders where a cashier merely flips an iPad screen around, and does nothing else. In a generous mood, I decided to go against that and tip. I instantly regretted that decision. I attributed this behavior to the new generation of teens and their poor work ethic. I also thought the price for two tacos was steep. My tacos came up to the window quickly, so I grabbed them and was on my way. I unwrapped the first taco to see what I was working with. The tortilla looked fresh and homemade. So far, so good. Digging deeper, I started to get more and more disappointed. The eggs were not cooked completely, and the bacon was not crispy. In fact, the bacon looked pretty pathetic, and I knew this would be a disappointment. The first few bites were like chewing on a tire. The last bite had hints of chorizo in the eggs. Not a fan of chorizo, I wrapped it back in foil, and straight to the trash can. On to taco number two. This taco had the eggs cooked fully and looked better. However, the bacon looked pretty pathetic and disgusting. After about three bites of this chewy taco, it was promptly wrapped and on its way to the trash. Needless to say, I was disappointed with my choice. If you are in the area, and looking for good tacos, keep driving by this place. I do not recommend this place at all. Poor service, poor food, so I will not return. I will say the Yelpers who had high reviews of this place let me down here.

Very busy on a Saturday morning, but service was polite and very quick. Great breakfast taco selection and tasty food! They have 500ML Mexican Cokes! Clean, well taken care of restaurant.

I miss this place since I moved to PA. Delicious breakfast tacos. The ladies at Touchstone Imagining also love it when I bring them tacos from here. They freak out.

This is definitely going to be our new Sunday breakfast spot! The owner is very friendly and made it such a fun experience. The costra taco is amazing and so is their mango juice! This is a must try!

Excellent taco spot. The customer service is top notch. They wrapped our to go order nice and tidy! Food was still hot when we got home which was about 8-10 minutes away. This was our first time there but I can see they're really into the community and have slides of pictures of school students and customers going on their screens. It was nice to see them greet a customer by name because he was a regular. That makes all the difference. It's not a huge place so I'm sure they can get packed very easily. They have a salsa bar. Tacos are hefty which is the best! We ordered the flauta plate and 5 different tacos. It was our first time so I had to order a lot. Bacon/egg/cheese, trashcan, migas, costra and guero tacos. My favorite was the trash can taco but honestly they were all delicious. It was an enjoyable experience. Worth trying out if you are in San Antonio.

If there's only one thing to take away from this review, it is La Costra. Don't get me wrong, everything here is excellent, and everyone loves going after the ever popular Trash Can taco, but La Costra is truly where it's at.The husband could live on breakfast tacos. Seriously. Me? Not so much. I like them, but not typically enough to want them ALL the time. La Costra changed this for me and I only wish I had tried it sooner... like YEARS sooner! Now I crave it almost every weekend. Maybe I'm just trying to make up for the decade-plus of lost time!Small cute and quaint place that gets busy quickly, but many people work around this by ordering carry out. Their fresh salsa bar allows you to help yourself to several delicious salsas and accompaniments. It's so hard to choose which one to get but avocado is a favorite with a touch of zing!Service is good and the owner is super kind and friendly. He always comes out to say hello to our dog and even brings him an occasional treat! Oh yes, the patio is dog friendly which is a bonus, especially when it's too hot to get him outside much. Also on weekends, they have someone making fresh churros on the patio! Doesn't get much better than that!Excuse me while I go out there to get my weekend Costra fix...

La Costra Beef was a 10/10. Everything was cooked perfectly and very flavorful! The salsas were delish with the perfect spice. It's a $9 taco but it's very unique and worth it. It's bigger than how it looks in the photo.

I would definitely come more often as I love their tacos and the horchata is excellent. But, my wife will never go as she hates that the ice tea is always watered done and has no flavor
