Wonderful atmosphere, however the female bartender poured one drink I ordered, then walked away. Other customers were waiting to order were ignored. No Guiness outside. Instead, serving seltzers and Dos Equies. Massive fail. Sausage had no taste. Do better Cottage.

This may have been my worst meal ever with horrific service. Taking our order took forever and then would disappear time after time. The food, well I ordered the fish and chips. While the portions were big, they were disgusting. The fish was served soggy and cold. The breading literally stuck to the fries and the fish tasted of oil. No other flavor other than the grease. The fries were undercooked and literally swimming in grease. Grease and oil actually lined and were standing on the paper! Did I mention the fries were also cold? Horrific food and lackluster service. I will never return.

I enjoyed my meal with my family .
Our server ( rob ) started the night with a delay but no biggie .

Was very nice and responsive .

My first drink came fast .

Then it seems he forgot about my second drink as I waited over 15 minutes .
I had to remind him .
My wife waited 20 minutes for lemons for her water .
Again, no biggie.

The food came out , they forgot the cheese on my daughters burger .

No biggie, it was corrected .

Once all the food cane out we didn't see our server again.
We all ran out of drinks

Then the table was filled with dirty dishes ,
We sat for over 30 minutes before I asked another server for help .

Moments later our server came and dropped off our ticket then left again.
Not exactly sure why.

But it did affect his tip.
I have no problems tipping 100%
But due to his lack of total attention we tipped 17% .
T.i.p.s
To insure proper service .

We did enjoy our time though and will be back .

The chicken curry had really good flavor but the chicken was dry. The steak was ok and the potatoes had no flavor at all. We sat outside and they only checked on us once and that was a few minutes after we were served.

It's the little things that count.

Ordered a Guinness and a my friend ordered a Sprite with lemon. The Sprite came out with two USED lemons (discolored and squeezed). You don't squeeze a customer's lemons (if that would have been their excuse), and your CERTAINLY shouldn't reuse lemons.

We walked out and went across the street to Pigpen.

While my plate was hot, my cottage pie was cold. It was super disappointing. The mashed potatoes on top tasted good though. It also took a while to get drink refills even though it wasn’t busy.

I had the fish and chips. Although the fish looked great it had a slightly above average taste. It had an after taste as if the oil was overused. Maybe it was just an off day because it seems people really like the food. I am unable to comment on any other food item.

Best Isish Pub I've been to in SA.
Went for the Irish breakfast on Sunday - which is served until 3pm!

Good waitstaff in a charming pub experience. Food is delicious, we had fish and chips and the Reuben egg roll. Irish music in the evening!

Eaten here twice, once via delivery and the other in person. This is a dive bar masquerading as an Irish style pub. Seriously, come here for beers after work/class with friends, don't expect anything more. The food wasn't bad but whoever packages it to go is daft. Both times the food was destroyed (yes, that includes when I picked it up myself).

Old school Irish pub. All the traditional fare and a few surprises. Make sure to try the appetizers and enjoy the drinks. Free parking is available while supplies last and the open seating bar is just inside the entrance. Stop by for a pint, a quick bite or a full meal.

Thanks to The Cottage for donating some delicious potato soup for lunch for a family we are helping following a fire. Fran Radmann, Red Cross volunteer. I know it's delish, that's why I asked for it. My favorite!

Really likes this place, everything we ordered was good. Potato skins and sausage rolls were great, and really enjoyed the leek soup!
