Since this is the oldest bar on the riverwalk, we had to check it out. It seemed less touristy than other restaurants nearby. Nice relaxed atmosphere and old world charm. Our server was awesome, drinks and food were great. Would definitely come back next time!

Amazing tavern with incredible history and charm; longest bar in San Antonio and it has a Speak Easy in the basement!
Food was good, typical tavern fare; service was good; atmosphere is darker and mysterious; pressed tin ceiling, etc. great mixologists with some fresh takes on classic drinks!

Had a great time at the Esquire. Our server, Joseph, made it even more special telling us some of the history of the bar. Oldest bar on the Riverwalk with a 100 feet of bar top. We just had chips and dip with our beer and wine and it was delicious. They make their own chips, dip, pickles, etc. They have a good food menu and a full service bar. If you are on the Riverwalk you should stop by.

This reamins one of my favorite bars in downtown San Antonio. A good beer and ale selection, a very large selection of top shelf spirits with way too many Tequila and Mezcal selections. It's a great old place to sit at the bar and sip classic cocktails. Food is average, but I don't come to a tavern to eat. There are way too many great restaurants nearby. Have a nice meal before or after you come to The Esquire Tavern.

Got there around 8pm, no reservation was made, but we saw many empty boots and some small tables. We were a group of 5 and the host was unable to assign a boot and only refer to us the ones near the bar, there was no intention of providing a service or a solution so we left.

Our waiter Joseph was amazing, we had the chalupitas with beef and they were delcious. This place has the coolest history. Great mule with made in house ginger beer. If you like history from prohibition era, 1919 paneling, etc check this place out. Great ambiance

Highly enjoyed my experience here this week. We ordered the steak and my only regret is not going back the very next day! I recommend stopping by if you're in town and get an old fashioned.

Loved everything about the Tavern. Amazing atmosphere:classic carved bar, tin ceiling combined with great food and drinks. Our bartender was very friendly and poured a mean Mojito! We only had access to the late night menu, but the burgers were juicy and delicious. Highly recommended!

Hubby and I went just to have some drinks. Our Server was amazing and attentive and the mixed drinks were even more amazing. You only need 1 drink and you're good to go. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. There are candles lit everywhere. Very chill and relaxing vibe.

The service was okay. The place is very dark at night. We had to use our cellphone lantern to look at the menu. Yoy have to walk a little bit to get there and is hard to find a good parking spot. Plan in advance and take your sneakers 👟 with you and a lantern...
