Naomi was wonderful. She was so kind and attentive. She even gave us advise on what to see around town. She made the drinks perfect and the food was great.

Came in at dinner time. The service was great however foods were not good, pizza tasted like frozen pizza, salty chicken sandwich. Wings were ok. Overall was not really happy with the food

Only one person serving. 50% of tables were occupied She very stressed, explained that the cash register system is down! She flat told us that won't be able to serve us.
Other customers were eating breakfast.
Looked to me, that my wife and I were the only rejected.

Also we waited for 50 minutes for our food. Even after asking several times for the food. She had the audacity to say”just be patient “ what a disaster.

We had some business to downtown, and we decided to play tourists and enjoy the Riverwalk a little bit. We wanted a quick lunch and we stumbled upon this restaurant. Looks nice, kinda fancy. They have a simple lunch menu yet we'll curated. We ordered the burger and Reuben sandwich. The service was fast, friendly, and efficient. Perfect for a quick lunch. The restaurant itself is very nice, and would be a perfect spot for a professional or work related lunch. The food... it was great. The burger was definitely above average. The Reuben was really nice. Good amount of fries for both orders. Prices are reasonable. Definitely we recommend.

My family and I had dinner twice at the Republic of Texas this weekend. We all enjoyed the food and the service was very nice and respectful both days. There’s an enjoyable view on the river outside. Yesterday we ate inside and enjoyed a group of singers. There was a photograph with his colleague who took a family picture for us. I’m never comfortable with it but my husband accepted. We do have now a nice family picture as a souvenir, I’m just now hoping these will remain private on their side. Recommend this restaurant.

I got there around 12:15 on a Wednesday, it was seat yourself. Out of the about 20 tables 4 were occupied and no one sitting at the bar. Those who were seated were already served or had ordered, it still took twenty minutes for one of the two waitresses working the floor to see if I wanted a drink. After giving me the menu she ignored me so I had to get her attention to order my meal. I ordered the club sandwich with sweet potato fries. That unbelievably took about twenty five minutes to get to my table. The waitress served it to me with no cutlery and no napkins. The presentation of the sandwich was all quarters was on the same skewer like a shish-kabob. The sandwich was dry, no mayonnaise. They did have squeeze bottles of mustard and ketchup, but with no cutlery it would have been a mess to use them. I had to get her attention again to at least get a fork and napkin.
If they are going to serve the sandwich dry at least give an empty tub and a fork to use for a dip.
The service was poor but the sweet potato fries were good.

Stopped by for a late dinner. The waitress was very friendly. The burger and fish and chips were great for the price. However, the meat lover’s pizza was strange. There was plenty of meat but way too much cheese, so much that I couldn’t even taste the bread.

While staying at the Riverwalk Plaza Hotel, my daughter, granddaughter and I stopped in for breakfast. When we were seated another table of 2 came in and then a table of four. There was a table of 2 with their food already. The waitress a blond woman came over and said she would be back for our drink orders. She came back after about 5 minimum to get our drink orders and then went on to take everyone else’s drink orders and food orders. Instead of delivering drinks she stopped at the bar and typed in all of the meal orders for all 3 tables then brought my water and my daughters soda but did not bring my grand daughters chocolate milk. This was around 20 minutes after we sat down at the table. After another 10 minutes she brought a bottle hotel milk to the table and said she couldn’t find the chocolate at which time I told her she couldn’t just take the chocolate milk off of the ticket because my granddaughter wouldn’t drink white milk. The whole time she was serving everyone she was walking around cursing and saying how crazy it was that she got so many tables at once. Our food was supposed to be 1 all American breakfast with bacon to go. 1 scrambled egg, 1 avacodo toast, 1 side of sausage, 1 water and 1 soda. The waitress brought out the all American plated with sausage on a plater, not to go. She didn’t have any other food at this time, I asked her for a box and just let the wrong meat slide as to not confuse her even more. After a few minutes she brought a box and an avacodo toast and said that’s all right. We told her no we still needed the waffle that came with the all American, the side of sausage, the scrambled egg and the bowel of fruit that came with the avacado toast. She brought the sausage and waffle back and asked if that was it. We said no we still needed the egg, fruit and syrup. We got the egg and fruit and I just got up and got syrup off another table that was empty. When she brought our check she went over it with me and I told her to take off the chocolate milk and so she said she would. My daughter paid thru the QR code on the table and when we got to our room she saw on the receipt that she had been charged for the chocolate milk and also a Belgian waffle we didn’t order or receive. That’s a 14$ overcharge! My daughter said it was too late to go back and fix it since we had already left but we decided we would definitely not dine here again and would leave this review to warn others of the terrible service. If we could rate this place 0 of 10 we would.
Riverwalk Plaza Hotel staff, valet, front desk and maintenance have been amazing so this review in no way is ment for them only The Gavel restaurant.
