It is my first time in San Antonio and my family said I had to come here. Everything was delicious. I had the ribs combo platter. It was so good. I had a bite of the brisket grilled cheese. I am trying to figure out how to get that back to Orlando with me. The banana pudding was the perfect ending. Thank you for an awesome lunch.

Came in right before closing but was still served graciously. I ordered the Sirloin Grilled Cheese Sandwich, which is basically meat sandwiched between two cheeses and toasted break. And WOW was it good.It came with amazing seasoning, vinegar-sweet pickles, and seasoned corn on the side.Is a must try place.

Had never heard of this place but decided to stop by with the family after walking the corn maze at Trader Village and I have to say we were not disappointed! Everything was great! My wife had the brisket grill cheese which is honestly enough for two to split and I had the sliced brisket sandwich. The bark they achieve on their brisket is amazing! TRY THE BANANA PUDDING! We WILL be coming back again!

I wanted to love this place. I had never tried a brisket grilled cheese sandwich and many reviews mentioned it was great. Well, I was not impressed. Brisket was chopped and chewy and had very little flavor. Grilled cheese sandwich itself was fine. I tried it as made and then took it apart. Wasn't great either way. Price was way too high. No sides, just pickle slices and a very (too) sweet bbq sauce. Three stars for the place itself, it is cute and cozy.

Went here with a coworker for lunch. Non-assuming place with lots of flavor and personality. We were greeted by a friendly staff person who patiently went over items and specials. We both ordered their 1 meat plat with 2 sides. Brisket with coleslaw and potato salad for me, brisket with potato salad and beans for her. Our plates had generous portion sizes of brisket and I scored with some burnt ends! The beans were fantastic, I'd probably go there again for that alone. If you like vinegar based coleslaw, you're in for a treat. It was fresh and flavorful. The brisket had a good char. It was tasty and moist. Go early as we happens to be the last ones to receive sliced brisket and it was close to 1pm on a Friday.

Great brisket grilled cheese sandwich! Great flavor! Definitely will be back to try some sliced brisket, Chicken, ribs & sausage and sides after talking to a regular customer that has been to some local BBQ places I have been to. He says The Hot Box bbq is the real deal.

Hello all. I consider myself a Barbeque Connoisseur I love to eat and make BBQ. I have never come across an establishment with so many tremendous items on the menu. My wife and I stopped in by accident and BAM we were treated to some of the absolute best bbq we have ever found in San Antonio or Austin. The brisket was excellent, sausage (polish and jalapeno) excellent, pork ribs excellent, beans and potato salad excellent and last but not least the banana pudding excellent. I forgot the jalapeno poppers were truly unexpected but very delicious. I do not get this exited about any bbq restaurant but I would actually buy and wear a t-shirt from The Hot Box. Thanks folks that was great food.

Stopped by for two brisket sandwhiches on the way to the skatepark, but they were just about sold out so we got ribs & a brisket grilled cheese instead. The bbq sauce is DELICIOUS! Very helpful & very nice people. Just need a bigger sign lol, drove past it twice.
