Did not eat here. Visited. Smelled sewer in the air. Went elsewhere.

My girlfriend and I ate at Toroko last night and had a great experience. The service was excellent as was the food. The presentation of the sushi was quite beautiful as well! Pricing was a bit on the high side but what isn't these days.

Only downside I could convey is that due to the proximity of this location to a school they do not have a full bar. I don't drink so this was not an issue for me but may be for others.

Toroko Sushi – Fair Oaks Ranch
I recently visited Toroko Sushi and ordered the Ikaru Sashimi and Fire Dragon Roll. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations.

The food took about 30 minutes to prepare, which felt a bit long for a relatively simple order. When the Ikaru sashimi arrived, it was served directly on top of lemon slices and crushed ice. This affected the flavor in a negative way — the lemon overpowered the natural briny taste of the Ikaru, giving it a strong, almost alcohol-like aftertaste. Additionally, the texture suggested it may have been previously frozen, lacking the freshness typically expected with sashimi.

The Fire Dragon Roll also lacked the bold flavors I was hoping for. The eel was sliced quite thin, which gave the impression of cost-cutting, and overall the roll tasted underseasoned and bland.

I give them 2 stars for presentation and effort, but overall, the quality didn’t meet expectations. This place may appeal more to those looking for a toned-down, Americanized sushi experience.

Gave a 10 dollar desert free of charge for my girlfriend’s birthday! Very nice atmosphere. Workers very nice.

Our food was exceptional at the Fair Oaks location. Service lacked a wee bit but the food was dynamite and the portions were overwhelming. If you’ve had HEB sushi (it’s mediocre by comparison) you’ll be astounded by this! We will be back. The seaweed and squid salad was probably my favorite and I wanted more!

The Salmon baked roll was our favorite! Delicious! We tried also the crunchy roll and the Vegas roll… vegas roll was runner up on favorites.

The service was phenomenal and she saved the day making suggestions because the menu is awful. Most sushi restaurants label clearly what’s raw, cooked, fried, spicy, etc. The only label in this menu is fried. The menu was frustrating but the server helped us and everything was delicious! We will be back!

Note: No specials at lunch time. Full price menu during lunch, fyi. Most rolls are $15-$20 (As of Dec 2024)

Just stopped in to check out the atmosphere and and try a roll that might catch my eye. I got the black mamba roll and it was delicious. Definitely will be going again. Thank you.
