VIP TACOS DE BISTEC ESTILO MONTERREY

Dined here because of location. It is on the Riverwalk across from The Majestic theater. Food was very average. Chips and salsa are $4 extra. The salsa was terrible. Drinks were ok. Would not return.

Sat at a riverside table and had a wonderful enchilada dinner w/ a margarita on the rocks. Good sauces and food was served hot.

A Mexican restaurant at the end of the River Walk away from all the hustle and bustle of tourists and other restaurants. But make no mistake, this is a must visit restaurant if you want good Mexican food. We had Bloody Mary’s which were probably the best we’ve had. We also ordered the appetizer sampler for two and it was delicious. The bartender was very friendly and made us feel welcome.

We had fond memories of the food here from prior visits, the last about a year ago. Unfortunately, we were incredibly disappointed. Our server was fine, but the food was not good. I've had better food at my neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The snapper was covered in spaces that ruined it. The chipotle sauce on the chicken was bland. A formerly good restaurant is now a place to avoid.

David was our waiter. He was fabulous and told us not only about the menu but also some of the area history. My husband doesn’t like spicy things but was pleasantly surprised by David’s suggestion of short rib tacos. I LOVED the vegetable enchiladas! The chocolate mouse with raspberry sauce and a hint of cinnamon was great but the mango sorbet was FABULOUS. This is by far the BEST meal we have had in our 5 days here at San Antonio Riverwalk. This restaurant is a MUST and the prices are also very reasonable. You can sit outside or inside. Great atmosphere! Don’t miss this gem!!!!!!

Had the oyster mini tacos appetizer for lunch. Was really really good. Chips and salsa good too. Hubby had short rib tacos and liked them a lot. Good margaritas.

I didn’t have a reservation. But I just happened along this place. There was indoor and outdoor seating—I chose to sit inside because it was hot and humid. I had the shrimp and crab enchiladas—hot and delicious. My server was friendly.

Jalisco burrito was epic. Marg was perfect.

Hotel recommended we come here after a long day of travel. It was an excellent recommendation! The queso was delicious as well as the chips! Loved the Acenar combo (with beef) which was tender and delicious. The enchilada trio was just as tasty, with a variety of queso, mole, and verde. Everything was to the highest standard and deserves your visit (and return).

The food was not good. The four of us tried two different appetizers which were not good. One of our group did not order a main meal due to how bad the appetizers were but the rest of us did order. I wish we would have not ordered because the food was awful. To pay such a high price for bad food is upsetting. It was a Saturday night and they were busy. Service was alright. Mixed drinks were awful…bartender does not know how to make drinks

I want to say thank you very much to Patty for helping our group out while visiting San Antonio. We were in town for a conference. We made reservations to dine at Acenar's. Due to unusual circumstances, we had to find an alternative location for dinner. Patty was incredibly helpful, gracious, and professional. We will be at Acenar's next time we are in San Antonio! This is a real 5 star review. When you Daughter who is not especially a fan of it and orders 3 different people items off the menu the 4 times we ent,, there is a 5 star point. When my wife just wants to know how to make all of the dishes, that is a 5 star reason. When I am ordering a sweet potato and chicken dish and want more!! 5 stars. From the Fresh Chips and Homemade Salsa, to the Entrees… it was all so delicious! We have 4 very different palates, but the servers were all excellent and gave great recommendations. I would recommend this establishment to anyone! The Drinks!! Also yes… the Ole Fashion. Amazing.. Please know this is a wonderful atmosphere and amazing food..

We had 3 different tacos, oyster, fish and shrimp and all three were amazing. The spices are on point and delicious. I had a margarita and it was delicious and the ceviche was great. Definitely worth it, and the service was excellent.

Our family of 4 dined for the first time and highly recommend for a unique and excellent menu! We had ceviche (prepared with jicama!), beef skewers with chimicurra on a delicious tangy bed of slaw, tortilla soup, verse pasta with shrimp in a cilantro cream sauce. Shrimp was the best I have ever had!

We visited the restaurant on a slower weekday yet the service was quite slow and we had to remind our server several times of basic requests (glass for the beer, water refill, tortillas with the food). They didn’t appear short staffed but it seemed to be a struggle during our visit. Prices were varied-table side guacamole was far too expensive for the portion size but entree was decently priced. Dishes had good flavor but nothing enticing enough to want to return. I don’t think we’d choose to return when there are so many wonderful places downtown.
