So being that I’m from San Marcos I come here all the time. The music is trash majority of the time but I still go for the vibes of course.. well, yesterday I came in and Spanish song came on. The song hadn’t even been on a few seconds until the bartender upstairs scrunched her nose/made a face in disgust and changed the song. When we asked what happened She had told me and my MEXICAN friends “this is WAY too Mexican” and followed with “there’s a lot of white people right now”… as if this place is not called a cantina? … they sell Mexican food, have Mexican decor, they’re in a town called SAN MARCOS so I really don’t see the issue ? I left after that Because although I love this place I was extremely upset at what was said ):

just saw the bouncer at the stairs who was disrespectful and touchy let someone in with a 100 dollar bill and he wanted to almost break my real id like im not 23 years old and come here every weekend like... okay buddy

Drinks were good and cheap BUT I saw 3 big roaches... one dead in the woman's restroom and 2 by the bar.... Disgusted really.. I don't wanna see what the kitchen looks like tbh

Besides almost sitting on broken glass in the booth, this is a typical college town drinking establishment near campus. Drinks are watered down and I am sure that the bartender isn’t supposed to be slamming down drinks with the patrons. No wait staff to sit you down, gather orders, or come by your table to check in. Need to spend some time cleaning tables, seats, and the floors.

Good place to come for Taco Tuesday - crispy and soft tacos are on sale then. I come here about once or twice a month. I really like the margaritas. My go to food order is the stoner taco. There is a lot on it so that with the chips and salsa is more than enough for me to eat.

We popped in for a bit to eat after our hike and during the mermaid festival. ?♀️ The street tacos are a perfect eat for a small snack. We had the beef and chicken fajita. I wasn't crazy about the nachos they are real simple chips, melted cheese with Pico, and a meat topping. I'm used to beans and cheese with a meat topping to be slightly disappointed for not paying attention to the menu. I was hungry. However, i was not hungry enough to eat the nachos. ?♀️ Thankful for the street tacos ?? Now they have chips and salsa bar, not a recommendation unless you're a drinker, you won't be bothered by them. Salsa tasted reside like it was going bad and wasn't spicy at all. It was more like pace picante sauce. As far as drink go, I wouldn't know if I didn't have any. However, my friends seem to be content. Oh, we certainly enjoyed the swing seats at the bar. Would I recommend not really. It's a cool spot if you're a drinker and don't really mind the quality of the food. It's not a spot I would be coming back to.

Cool vibe, food was in need of attention by someone that knows what they are doing, crispy taco shells were stale, meat filling had an odd flavor to it, shrimp and fish tacos tasted like they came right out of the freezer and microwave. You all can do better.

Atmosphere and service were fine but the food is comically bad. My potato taco was a handful of tater tots on unmelted cheese. My bean and cheese taco was unmelted cheese with a scoop of unseasoned black beans on top, with the juice from the can.The salsa was good but chips tasted like they were fried in bad oil.

Don’t go if you are hungry. Good salsa, pathetic street tacos, regular bar margs nothing like a Mexican restaurant but, that’s not why you go here. Go here because it’s close and has music, shots, and a cool upstairs.
