Peyton is arguably one of the best mixologists in the City of San Marcos. His signature beverage is the “water” served on the rocks, extra rocks for extra the fun ;). I think about this bar popcorn in my dreams and yearn for it constantly. Chances is one of the Best Environments for a fan of a Dive Bar and I will forever recommend it to anyone in town. The bartender Cass thinks being rude to customers makes her cool and sassy in reality it just makes her look immature and disrespectful to polite customers... place is better off without her

The worst bouncer EVER. Had the nerve to tell me that my REAL ID was fake. At first I thought he was joking but turns out he wasn't. I even offered to show him other proof but he wouldn't accept. Chances need to get an actual bouncer who knows a real from a fake lol. I will never be coming back here again.

A bar for people who love bars. I can't rate the food. I'm not sure they have any, but as a bar, it's great. The people working here know what they are doing and I like the waitress Reagan enough to make her my beneficiary.

The bartenders were not hospitable. The bottled beer was warm. The bar has so much potential but as the bartender loudly yelled across the bar for us to be quiet telling us our laughing playing shuffle board was too loud, we didn't fit their vibe as she waved her hand at us from across the bar. And then we watched bouncer not card two college age buddies after our wives were forced to go back and get ID's and we are in our 40's and 50's. Won't be going back there. If you want to be a speak easy then post your rules or else let people have fun while they are paying to play shuffle board.

The drinks here have gone bad I used to come here because the drinks were made well and thoroughly but now they aren't. It's like they are not mixed well or the bartenders weren't going by the drink book recipe either way I still come here because the atmosphere is always nice
It’s a great hangout spot and bartenders know how to make cocktails. Very clean and staff is very friendly. One of my favorite places in San Marcos.

This hole in the wall is a hidden secret. If you catch Peyton in the bar he's actually an undercover mixologist. I prefer his cosmopolitan, but he serves a mean "water." As far as atmosphere goes, pool tables are a hit and the juke box is fantastic.

If i could give this place zero stars I would. I went in with my friend and there was a bouncer named Cooper who came up to me while I was waiting on my friend outside of the restroom. He harassed me three times outside of the bathroom and said that my friend was "breaking the rules" by using the men's restroom. The transphobia and homophobia exhibited by the bouncer named Cooper has ruined ANY chance i would have given to Chances R. Do not come here if you are LGBTQ+! They are NOT friendly!!!
