Made my burger without any gloves! Watched the girl who took my order touch the register, then go to the rolls on the rack, grabbed it with her bare hands, then slapped a piece of meat on the grill, again with NO GLOVES, and began assembling my burger. Needless to say I trashed the burger. I'm not getting sick. I don't care how good the food is or how many reviews you have or quite frankly if you are the oldest restaurant in town WEAR GLOVES WHEN MAKING/TOUCHING FOOD!

i believe this is a nostalgic burger joint. Check out the daily specials, good after 5pm, except Friday, good all day. Try the Manske roll, but if you do, get ice cream on it! Reasonable combo special too. Great sweet potato fried, always hot & fresh. Also great onion rings. Finally, fries that are shoe-string, yummy

Best burger in San Marcos Texas. I've never had a Manske roll, but all my friends have and say it's better than a cinnamon roll !! Their Gil-A-Monster is the best burger of all time !! I love the original building they're in, and the cashier girl would make anyone come back ! She's the best.

why did y’all randomly decide to add dairy back into the manske rolls?! they were perfectly delicious without it. now us lactose intolerant folks can no longer have LBJ’s fav! disappointing and no longer as inclusive

The Bestest and I mean Bestest roll I've ever had in 51 years of life. Service was great the lill dude in my photo's works there and was ready to pose for my review he didn't even know I'm doing. Great lill dude and wonderful service and reasonable prices. Thank you, Gil's Broiler & Manske Roll

I went to school in San Narcis about 30 years ago and was shocked to see Gil's still around. My daughter and I stopped in for a treat. I got a cinnamon roll with ice cream and she had french fries after she saw some out of the kitchen. The fries were thin and crispy-which is her favorite kind. She said they were amazing! I didnt even get one because she wasn't sharing. The cinnamon roll was soooo good. I will be thinking about it for awhile. Any time I'm near San Marcos-I will be stopping here.

First time in the area and heard this place was great. Walked in and wasn't greeted by the staff (staff of 2 people). Cashier seemed to be texting. I had to ask if we just sit wherever we wanted. I thought there was a menu so I went up to see if I could find one. Just saw a M-F daily specials and the manske roll menu. Maybe I missed the food menu? I just ended up looking online for it. Noticed there was only 1 cook so I figured our food would take a while. Went to the back to use the bathroom, and it smelled like mold back there. As we were still figuring out what to order we decided to leave. The employees just didn't seem interested in basic customer service and we felt it. Ended up coming to another place down the road.

Small spot but super good. Burgers were an amazing price. They have deals weekly so you're saving and it's the perfect size burger. Super filling. Fries are thin and great and the manske rolls here are great. Solid spot. The service was also great. Super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

This San Marcos favorite has been in business for seemingly forever. While I do like the chili burger quite a bit, the real winner is the manske roll. They also have independent soda companies on tap that are novel and fun when compared to your typical coke.
