I started coming here because it was the only place near my building open early Friday mornings and I kept coming because they do NOT skimp when you add avocado to a breakfast taco! While the food is good, I think two things would elevate this place to 5 stars: firstly, switching away from styrofoam cups and packaging and finding a biodegradable alternative; secondly, an unsweetened option for matcha.
Review from 1st visit is below. Went for a 2nd time, food was good but it was disturbing seeing a kitchen staff personnel in the kitchen wearing a sleeveless shirt, not what I want to see with worrying about armpit hair or sweat possibly dropping on your food while being prepared! If I had seen that before I ordered I would have left. Other than that, other cook had a T-shirt on which was somewhat comforting in hopes he was the one preparing my food.

What a great place! Stopped here for breakfast before floating the river and can’t speak highly enough of the staff and food. Cute shirts, phenomenal coffee, and the breakfast quesadilla is out of this world. If you are in San Marcos, this Jo’s Cafe is a most stop.
