A very good Bar-B-Q place. It has been around more than 90 years. We were traveling through San Marcos and decided to visit the place it was not disappointing. We've enjoyed our meals very much and stuffs were friendly as well

Restaurant was busy the day we went, but the staff was so helpful and accommodating. And the barbecue was tasty!

I’m from Austin but was in San Marcos for business and stopped in for lunch. Worst decision ever made! If I could give zero stars I would! This place was terrible. The sausage looked and tasted like 3 day old sausage and the ribs and brisket tasted like it was reheated a few times! You guys ought to be ashamed of yourselves! At least feed the homeless your leftovers and prosper and not let your food sit and re-serve it! The icing on the cake were the stray cats in the outdoor seating area. There are tons of them living in the shed behind this place. I do not recommend this place! Save your money!

Just moved to Atx in March, every Friday I eat BBQ from a different spot, this Friday I went to blacks, staff was nice, servings were plentiful but the BBQ was not good. I ordered; Potato salad (potatoes were under cooked, taste was ehh), Creamed corn (bland), Mac-N-Cheese (bland), brisket, sausage, chicken (I'm not going to comment on the meat individually, just unnecessarily bad), but worst of all was the BBQ sauce (overwhelmed with Chilli powder, and cumin, it was terrible). I wound up making my own BBQ sauce but the meat wasn't good enough for my sauce, with alil season and simple ingredients I was able to salvage the brisket and sausage for breafast tacos this am. The chicken went to the dogs, and the sides went in the trash. Sorry for the review but your restaurant seems to have good staff who can definitely do better.

Disappointed with the brisket. While it was moist is was bland. The sides, green beans and potato salad were both marginal. The green beans had an unusual flavor and the potato salad was bland. We sat outside because the weather was great but it was unpleasant due to the gnats or mosquitoes constantly in our faces. This was our first and last time at Black’s as we have had much better food elsewhere.

Not very good. Been here several times and it's been steadily going down hill. Kent is not keeping pace with Terry.

We visited the blacks in Lockhart and loved it so we thought the one in San Marcos would be just as consistent. The Macaroni and cheese was drying out in the pan asked if they would be having another pan come out since they were refilling the other pans with fresh sides, the person asked someone else and they said no they would not there was enough in that pan. Since it was drying out it was thick and clumpy. The creamed corn was very bland, the coleslaw was bland as well. The brisket was really dry and we got the fatty option. The baby back ribs were ok and the pulled pork also lacked flavor used a lot of the bbq sauce which was good to drown it and put in a sandwich..
