Horrible experience ever !!!
Today it was a good weather so me and my friends decided to have Pho in this restaurant. I had no cash and the only thing i had in my car was $5 , I carried it for the tip and we went to this restaurant. As soon as I entered, No welcome or any welcoming gesture at all. The lady said for 3 ? I said yes and we sat down and the other guy gave us the menu. After sitting for 2 -3 minutes, she came with the napkins and cutlery and my friends said thank you but she was quite with blank straight face. I understand some people are like that but a smile would cost nothing, just a SMILE !!! She asked us if we have decision to order or not . We were hesitant cause we are new to this cuisine and we were trying to figure out what it was, yet she told me that she only has 5 minutes before she go to take out order or something which i couldn’t understand . I being an understanding customer thought she might’ve had a bad day so she was with that different attitude and i proceeded to order a pho , noodles and spring roll in rush. Till now i have not had any judgements because i thought the food might be be good to have such attitude and finally the food was there within 5-10 minutes of waiting . The food was not that great but a mid. She lacks customer service because she ‘d not even ask before taking anything from the table. Horrendous experience and no way that i’d return to this place. I thought of giving a tip but i ended up giving a big fat zero. And i literally spent 40$ just to have such experience.

If I can leave a zero star I would! An old lady with a long face or probably getting longer with her rude attitude… so rude! No matter how the food is great it can be unappetizing seeing people getting treated rudely… WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!!

I used to eat at pho Tran 88 all the time, yesterday i decided to eat there and I always order the same food all the time I eat there.I ordered shrimp, pork and chicken fried rice.the fried rice it only have 3 pieces of shrimp it used to be like 6 pieces and jumbo shrimp but yesterday their kind of small size of shrimp.i paid $15.99 +taxes.and i ordered a fried squid the squid it’s not even fresh and burn for $14.99 i think.and as soon I ordered it’s not even 5 minutes of waiting the food it’s ready already no wonder the fried squid I ordered its burn taste like burn I don’t like the taste of burn when it’s come to a fried squid.so anyway I still leave a tip on my bill but I never gonna come back there.
While I am not thin skinned, and often have a soft spot for service workers as I work in Customer service, the lady with the thinning hair who works there is completely unprofessional. When I went there, I was rudely told there were no options for substitutions and also told I could not order side dishes for an additional cost. She was curt when she took our orders and when we received our appetizer and complained about how not fresh the food was, we were told loudly in front of the whole restaurant; “That’s how this is made, the chef ate it and said that’s how it’s supposed to taste!”
I do not expect everyone to have the same decorum I would in those situations but it only got worse when I politely tried to explain why we were bringing it to her attention. She became louder, defensive, and said other people in other restaurants or there like to go around trying to food and then saying they don’t like it and asking for a refund. We had order meals AND appetizers, and though none of it was worth writing home about, we only sent one thing back that was ACTUALLY inedible.
The embarrassment, the yelling at customers and VERY average food made this a place to avoid.
I’d be inclined to call the health department. That kind of defensiveness seems like more than just a food issue. It’s likely covering for a hygiene issue.

My sixty three year old mother (who may possibly the nicest person alive), and I went to this restaurant for lunch today and had an awful experience today. My mother ordered Pho Trans Kalamari, and found it to be too chewy. She almost didn’t say anything but decided we could trust the restaurant to understand she was dissatisfied with how chewy it was. My mother, basically whispered to the waitress how she didn’t care for it, that it was very chewy, even trying to make it her fault (my mothers fault) for expecting it not to be chewy. The waitress with the thinning hair came over to our table and LOUDLY, with many hand gestures calling attention to our table explained that she would take it off of our bill but that many other customers order it and love it; and that yes fine she’d take it off; but not first without a big demonstration villainizing my mother for having an opinion she politely and quietly shared. I was FLOORED. As paying customers, who paid almost $70 for mediocre food, no matter how many people come in and like it, if one person says they don’t, the right thing to do is to refund the order, or offer something else in its place. Between my mother and myself, we share 80+ years serving customers, and her behavior was wholly unacceptable and rude. After her interaction with my mother, she tried to avoid our table and treat us as if we didn’t exist sending a boy less than 18 to our table who simply did not speak English putting this poor guy in an already uncomfortable situation. I asked to speak with her myself to smooth over the interaction and explain how the interaction could have gone better, suggesting that the customer is any companies best asset. She continued to talk over me; make big demonstrations with her hands and suggest that, “Customers like to try food, and say they don’t like it, then we lose $16 worth of food!” Apparently; having an opinion in this restaurant, and losing $16 is worth losing good, well paying, and generally well tipping customers. Just one more thought for the manager/owners; would you rather lose $16 and provide a better product or $70 per meal? Her behavior ensures we will not be back.

We came in recently and our lady server was so cold and a bit rude. She just looked pissed for no reason. She just stood at our table and stared at us as soon as she gave us the menu. We had to ask her to give us a minute. My beef(bo luc lac ) dish was chewy and tough .They didn't bring the fish sauce out that usually comes with it until I asked for it. My mom's rare beef pho was also tough and the broth was bland. A young Hispanic guy brought our food and later brought our bill at the end. Since he was pleasant, I still tipped 20% in case they split the tips. even though she didn't deserve it. I left the cash tip on the table and went to the restroom. My mom said the same lady came by and my mom gave her the tip and she just stuck her hand out and didn't even say thank you. According to a friend, the Chinese ladies here are always rude. We won't be back.

The eggs rolls are always perfectly cooked, and the wonton soup is so delicious!
Some of these reviews are insane because people expect their feet to be kissed when they walk in apparently lol. Anyway this place is amazing. Food never disappoints, and we've ordered multiple different items. Me, a mixed (with BLACK) race woman, and my BLACK (emphasis based off another review) have been treated fantastically every time we go. The staff are always nice and may have a straight face but does not mean unfriendly. Prices are great, too, so the overpriced comment is wild. I live near multiple pho places but drive out of my way every time to come here because its worth it. :)

Best Pho in San Marcos! Love this little hidden gem! We go to their second location more often but both places are real bangers in the pho department. Never had a meal that I didn't like here too. Only two downsides.. parking is hit or missing, sometimes can get a little warm inside when they're busy.

Food is great but unfortunately the lady that serves is rude in person and even on the phone. She needs to get better at greeting tables and smiling. She thinks she’s owed something which she definitely isn’t when she acts the way she does. Because of this attitude I don’t care to eat here.
Love thier food & they are quick on getting you your food in a quick way

We were the only customers when we walked in. Customer service was weak. I first thanked the older woman for bringing water- no response, then I thanked second young man waiter, same non-responsive. Getting paid is what matters to them, gave a non-deserving $4 tip. They never came to table to ask if we needed anything.

I've came here a couple times, and I think the pho is pretty good. I'd come here more often if the lady working at the front wasn't so rude.
