We recently moved to San Marcos and visited Roughhouse Brewing for the first time on Friday evening. On a map, it seemed a lift to get there, but it was less than 20 minutes and an easy drive from our house in South San Marcos - glad we finally did it! This is a beautiful property and building. The staff was friendly and let us try plenty of beer samples before deciding. The beer is quality, and I appreciate they have some wine selections for someone who isn't a beer drinker or doesn't feel like beer during their visit. We really appreciated that they have a kitchen. It's mainly bar snacks and sandwiches, but the sandwich combinations they offer are top notch. We had the queso (great!), the Roughhouse Reuben and Big Italian, both excellent. Highly recommend folks visit Roughhouse!
This place won us over with the food paired with the spectacular Ales and Pilsners. The nachos are the best in the region. There's plenty of space and the service is always fast. Great selection of beer to go and the artists on their packaging are phenomenal.
Great beer and tasty sandwiches
Great destination with seating indoor and outdoor. Tables, games, merch. Delicious beer!
Worth a stop! So nice, peaceful and clean. Enjoyed the beers and the nachos were great! Highly recommend.
I dropped by to check out the comedy show that was being hosted last night. My friend and I had a great time. This is definitely a great spot to hangout and catch up with friends. Beers were amazing and I will be back soon!
Last thing I expect from a brewery is to have decent food, but damn this place far exceeded our expectations. From the pretzels to the nachos to the sandwiches; they were all great. Didn’t know that they’ve been open for seven years but from the way the upkeep looks it has just been open for about a year.
Chill spot good fort the whole family, including dogs. I join the San Marcos Run Club there on Sunday Rundays at 10:30am.
Great spot, good drinks, big outdoor area. Staff was friendly and grounds were clean, we enjoyed it a lot!
This was one of the most amazing gems of a brewery I have ever stepped foot in. Please please try the smoked lager if you are a fan of mezcal you will LOVE this beer. The food is spectacular, there are books to read and outdoor spaces to enjoy. The staff is willing to stop and chat about beer,I didnt want to leave!!!! Please check it out for yourself and thank me later. Have the perky turkey sandwich.

Great beer and good vibes!!
Stellar service, damn good beer, good music and overall great experience. Def would recommend.
Super service every friendly staff
Lovely microbrewery just far enough off the main road to feel like a little retreat. A nice selection of beer types, which included a saison, granting it instant bonus points.
Very nice folks too. They took the time to explain their cave-aged beers, which is a feature unique to their location. Branding and march is on point too.
Most seating is outdoors with plenty of shaded spots and an outdoor stage.
I'm already planning my next trip to Roughhouse. It stands apart from the microbrewery pack and well worth the drive.
What a lovely place to find tonight! The high ratings drew us to try, and, wow, we were delighted! Kind staff, great food options and beer, play area plus soccer, well maintained landscaping to walk around, pavilions with cement flooring to enjoy the beautiful nature surrounding this hidden gem! We bright a few games and it was a great evening with a breeze! If I can give feedback on food: one more kid's option and one more side option for the sandwiches to offer variety for a large family/group who may want to taste different flavors. Thanks for the chat at the end of evening!
