The waffles are THE BOMB! I have no idea why they only come 1 per order. I easily ate 2 and seriously considered a 3rd. Cool spot we've been going to for decades.

Shrimp and grits with chorizo was good. The grits were creamy but needed some salt and black pepper.

My husband and I were visiting from out of town and looking for a spot to have brunch when I found this cafe online. We waiting 45 minutes to be seated which was not a major issue. The waitress took our drink order then returned to take our order. First my husband ordered the steak and eggs, she returned and said they were out. Second time, he ordered the chicken, she said they’re out! This was very frustrating. If you’re out of items, you should tell the guest immediately and they can decide rather to stay or leave. Unfortunately we chose to leave as we can’t eat pork. Found a great spot across the street! It all worked out for the best!

Usually always good food . Today I think a local hockey team came in to eat. I think they left a puck on a plate and I got it. I ate everything off the top of the biscuit. I told the waitress and was offered another biscuit. I had already finished. My fork just bounced off the top of the biscuit. Was told that all they could do was just another biscuit. Did not want much except to hopefully have the kitchen not put a super hard burnt biscuit on a plate and basically say oh well.

We have been dining at Root Cellar for over 10 years and always enjoy it. They always have our favorite menu items, but enjoy the seasonal items, too. Don't bother going to those other brunch spots. You'll have to wait 30 minutes to sit.

I was not expecting the atmosphere to be sooo casual since the menu looks " fancy" and our server was absolutely rude. Never

Place is old, but not in a good way. Dingy bathrooms and as a whole, didn't seem that clean to me. The wine selection was bad and over priced (they are actually trying to push whitehaven for more than $40 a bottle) and our server had no idea what the house wine brand was. And no attention to the small details that make a place great rather than ok. They were out of items, we ordered the queso and the chips looked like cheap store-bought. Plus we clearly got the "bottom of the bag" because our plate was a pile of crumbs rather than chips. Entrees were over cooked. Not sure why I keep hearing people talk about this place. In my book it's a C- at best.

Very nice restaurant in a good location. The food was very good and the menu had a wide variety to choose from. The server was knowledgeable and prompt. Like all other restaurants after the pandemic, make sure and look at the menu for pricing. Nothing here is uncompetitive, but it seems expensive by the old standards. Facility is a nice old building on the downtown square.

Upon attending the restaurant for our anniversary, my spouse and I were disheartened by the behavior of the Manager or General Manager on duty. Their noticeable impairment, discernible through olfactory cues and visible demeanor, was not only disruptive to our experience but also demonstrated a lack of professionalism. The Manager's discourteous interactions extended beyond us to their own staff, creating an unwelcome atmosphere. Such conduct is concerning, particularly in a food environment, raising questions about the establishment's commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace. As someone with a background in health and safety, I am deeply disappointed by this occurrence and feel compelled to report it to the relevant authorities for further investigation. Instances of substance use in a professional setting not only jeopardize the well-being of staff but also pose potential risks to patrons. It is my sincere hope that corrective measures are taken swiftly to ensure the integrity of the establishment is restored.
