I’ve had Sugar Fish LA and omakases in ATX. I don’t know why or how, but this place is a random gem found in the middle of San Marcos, TX.I love visiting Umami with my friends. I can’t believe that there’s a place like this here that’s better than more than half of the sushi restaurants in Austin.

24 minutes agoHave you ever met someone that just inspires you? Have you ever taken 2 minutes to ask your server who they are and what matters to them? We did tonight and we met the most impressive woman. Andee. Umami Sushi has been our weekly "date night" spot for over a year and each and every time, we have been impressed with the food and service. Tonight, we arrived and guess who knew our favorites? Yep, Andee. She has been paying attention for months and we didn't even have to order. She rattled off our favorites and asked if we wanted to change anything. It's nice to be seen. And Andee, we see you! Umami is lucky to have you. If you have ever wanted to enjoy great sushi, go to Umami. If you have very wanted to meet someone spectacular, go to Umami and ask for Andee. Then ask Andee, what she is good at. She will definitely surprise you!

Great food! I personally LOVE their lunch specials. You get SO MUCH food and for a really great price.
Honestly I want to gatekeep because this place is so good!! But I have to give them a shout out. I’ve been to umami probably 12 times now and it’s always spectacular. I’m a big sushi girl and I don’t like the basic, all you can eat kind of sushi. I’m all about flavor and freshness, they hit it every time. Thank guys for giving me some amazing sushi close to home!

Mostly had a great experience on the last experience the server Brought the check without asking while we clearly had a menu with thing listed t9 order. Definitely felt like the business was just trying to get us to leave. With a group of three 3 we where ready to order more food then when the check was delivered we left instead.
Absolutely obsessed with this place. It’s one of my favorite restaurant in San Marcos! Staff are just so incredible and the food is phenomenal. Me and my mom are absolutely obsessed with their spicy Ramen. And the Poke bowl from here is the best! I highly recommend checking this place out if you’re a sushi lover!Dietary restrictions: I have Crohn’s disease, and was diagnosed quite recently. This was one of the first places I ate that actually made me feel better than any other option! I highly recommend the tuna poke bowl! But be careful with the spicy foods and spicy mayo because it’s no joke!
Cute little quaint sushi place! I had the delicious Volcano roll… it was very tasty. I will definitely make this my new spot for Sushi!

High quality sushi, prepared thoughtfully, in a quaint little space. Their miso soup is very good, and sashimi and nigiri fresh and beautiful. Wonderful wait staff too, and the prices are reasonable.

I have eaten here successfully 2/5 times I have attempted to come by. Food is delicious - lunch prices are a good deal while dinner prices are a little too expensive for my tastes considering the amount of food you get.However, they seem to consistently close early at lunch and/or turn away customers. I arrived at 1:45pm today and was informed they were already closed. The posted holiday hours on the front door indicated that they were open from 12-2:30pm for lunch. Since this has happened three times to us in the past 5 months (I've been trying to introduce Umami to my husband, who is still yet to be able to try it), I'm guessing it may be a recurring issue. So proceed with caution if you're within an hour or so of closing hours.
