Ordered a barbacoa taco and menudo. Taco was so greasy I couldn't eat it and the menudo was mostly hominy and smelled awful. It was not edible. Miss the original restaurant.

I’ve seen Maria Bonita for a long time but never tried it until recently. From the outside, it doesn’t really look like a full restaurant — there are a few tables set up, and you order from a small window. There’s also a bit of seating inside, which I noticed when I went to order.
An older lady came out to take our order, and the menu was simple — no printed prices, which felt a little confusing at first. I decided to order 3 chicken fajita tacos just to try it out.
To be honest, the tacos were pretty decent. They had a lot of toppings and flavor, but nothing extraordinary — just very basic, standard tacos. They cost around $3.50 each, which felt okay for what they were.
I’ve seen both good and bad reviews online, so I was curious to try it myself. Overall, I’d say the food was fine, the service was straightforward, and cars kept pulling up for pickups — so it seems like a popular local spot.
Not the best taco place I’ve been to, but not bad either. Worth a try if you’re nearby.

Had breakfast at this place this morning tacos were good size and price was right… $5 for 2 tacos and a coffee….Student special they told me… even though I’m not student lol…had to comment on this spot it’s under new management and they are really trying… was in area after work and came back… they serve Indian buffet too… loved the MOMO and the Butter Paneer… new twist on take out…food is fantastic the a/c is broken but they said soon to be fixed and they will also have outside dining soon… I will be back…Oh the momo was free for downloading their app… even better!!!!
This use to be my favorite breakfast spot in San Marcos when I first moved here in 2021 for school, today I stopped by and seen that unfortunately management has changed but still decided to give it a try. I was very disappointed to pay for overpriced burritos with a lack of homemade charm. I moved to Austin but still stop by every time I’m in San Mo. I’ll miss the old owners and the cook who remembered me every time I came to visit no matter how long it was! Wish them the best but it looks like I’ll be retiring this place.

I took my mom out to what I thought was WOWes but it’s not called that anymore and it is called Bonita Maria. WOWes used to be so yummy. I went and I was greatly disappointed. We ordered a queso and they never brought it to us until my mom asked for it. When it came it was super water down and tasted reheated. Super overpriced and for what. No AC either. Our waitress was more attentive to her phone rather than us and we were the only customers! That should’ve warned us and be our cue to leave. Paid 30$ for two tacos and a plate. Ridiculous. I got a water and there was particles in my cup. Gross. Anyways, I hope they get it together. We will not be coming back and I hope I don’t get food poisoning.
