I'm in love with this place!!! If you don't eat here you'll be sad. I highly recommend the Chili Cheese Burger 🍔
This was a happy find! We googled "best restaurant in San Saba" and this was the winner. The atmosphere is like being at home, where (almost) everyone knows everyone. It was awesome hearing the employees call each patron by name!
The food was fantastic! We had the guacamole burger and it was juicy and HUGE! my husband and I shared and it was still too much! We also had wings - probably some of the biggest wings we've eaten! Great crunch and taste.
We will definitely be going back!
Camping Tourist Review Alert: Go see Larry and family- they were friendly and everything was fresh and tasty!
Delicious classic cheeseburger on a sesame seed bun. I liked that the patty was thick yet didn’t make the burger unwieldy to eat. Crisp tots.
Home brewed root beer! And err, I mean house (restaurant?) brewed beer!
I tried the Armadillo Blonde and the Jalapeño beer. The blonde was brewed with corn and was tasty. It kinda came off like a sour beer in a good way. Jalapeño beer was dangerous, and went down easy without being boring. Fantastic light beer with just the right amount of pepper on the nose. Dangerous because I could drink it all day.
Bloody Mary mix had a straightforward balance of spice, tomato and celery, and sadly I didn’t have room in the cooler for a bottle.
I didn’t try it, but I overheard good things about the fried catfish (Friday), homemade ice cream, and casseroles to go.
Great menu, good people
Everything about this place is such a pleasant experience. The food is certainly amazing but the staff is what makes it extra special. They are so fun and friendly every time we go. And while going out to eat in our current economy is more difficult, they offer daily specials that make it more affordable. I really appreciate that right now and wish more restaurants did that. They also have local wines to enjoy for those who don't drink beer.
Something very funky about all of the beers. Has an astringent vinegar-like flavor. I came about 5 years ago and my hone brew friend said it seemed like the lines/vessels were not cleaned or something, which explains way all of the beers have this taste. Another person in comments mentioned wild yeast getting into the batch. It seems others are tasting what I'm tasting. I came back thinking surely they fixed the issue by now, but it's exactly the same. Disappointing. Its a cool-looking place. I've never tried the food though.
Do NOT order "Larry's" beer. We tried all styles and all smack of poorly made homebrew with cidery, vinegar flavors. I used to brew my own and this is what happens when wild yeast gets in the batch, six of us all deemed it undrinkable. Staff was pleasant but food and drink were just not good.
Glad we stopped here while bringing my son back to College Station from Arizona. Excellent friendly service. Inside is authentic rustic. Food is great and they even have Gluten free options for those that like that. They serve their own beer as well as local wines and good selection of bottled domestic and Mexican. Will definitely stop here again on our next trip
$10.00 for a child’s grilled cheese and maybe 10 skinny fries. Drink was NOT included. 2 kids and 2 adults and we all had sandwiches, sodas, and it was 65.00. Little ridiculous. Food wasn’t good. Won’t be back.
Tried the beer sampler and 4 of the 8 were undrinkable. Tasted like they had gone sour or expired. I'm from Wisconsin and never met a beer I couldn't finish ? very disappointing! Fried okra was pretty good and fried pickles were decent, fried mushrooms I would not recommend. Restaurant area was not clean, sticky table and floor, trash left out on other tables.

I loved everything about this place! I wish I lived in San Saba so I could go everyday! The chili cheese burger was delicious and my husband loved the fish. Get the salsa!!! Indescribable and chips were so thin and crispy. We got the German Chocolate Cake!!!!! So outrageously delish we got one to go!!! Just a great small town vibe and delightful people!
This is a hidden gem if you need a place to eat heading to the Hill Country. We searched TripAdvisor in San Saba as we were driving through for a place with variety of food for kids and beer for parents. The food far exceeded expectations and microbrew was good. Kids have already asked to come back.
Everything was delicious
We were in San Saba with our RV group. Decided to try this place out. Was greeted & told to pick a table. Place was not busy at all. Hubby ordered the beer flight. They were out of 3 of them so they adjusted the price. He was not impressed at all. Said they all tasted the same with the exception of the jalapeno one. Said after he ordered he noticed all the "locals" were drinking bottled beer & that should've told him something. I ordered their Root Beet & I did enjoy it. Food was pretty good. I like that they have a kid/senior items. I got the senior Steak Fingers & it came with 3 good size pieces along with gravy & FF. Some of the best Steak Fingers I have had at a resturant. Hubby got a burger. It was pretty good also. We agreed we would go back, but just for the food.
I’m still thinking about how good the food was here when I really went to try their beers. Our server was super friendly and made some great choices for food. We had the stuffed peppers, stuffed avocado, and the spicy chicken. We left not one bite on our plates it was so good. They make their own homemade queso and it’s delicious. I didn’t know what type of beer to have since they had so many choices so our server brought me a couple of samples she thought I’d like. The honey wheat was fantastic! So happy we chose to go here on our visit to San Saba.
