Mediocre menudo and the Barbacoa lacked flavor. Not consistent at all.

Be careful . You don’t actually get a pound . I was missing a little over .25 , 1/4 lb (ish) give or take on the Barbacoa . I have my own weight scale . This isn’t the first time but last time I order here . I also paid for an avocado of $2.89 and did not receive

This place only carries pork tamales (the don't offer any other kind of tamales), barbacoa, corn tortillas... They are always out of either flour tortillas, salsa or pico de gallo.

WARNING!! Check barbacoa before eating, can’t believe this is still a thing but we found pieces of aluminum in our barbacoa!!! Can’t even imagine if a CHILD was eating this, this is absolutely a choking hazard, and they would have had a lawsuit on their hands if anything happened to a loved one because of them.
They fortunately did right and issued me a refund for the barbacoa, and the manager was apologetic about the issue.
EDIT: Manager did call me to take down this exact review. However I do find it necessary to warn parents to check their barbacoa from here because there is documented proof of found choking hazards in their food.
This is not a matter of slandering this business or saying that they did any of this on purpose, it’s a matter of warning parents, and it is coming from a place of fear that your children might be ingesting pieces of aluminum.

Update to the owners response: No, he came home withOUT the Tamales/menudo so NO! He still didn’t not get his order. & YES! We did call the right location because the guy at the front did acknowledge my husband & say “I do remember taking your order” & I rechecked my husband call & it was 8am not 7:30 so correction on our side but none the less… as a business owner myself. An apology goes along way instead of trying to justify the mistake your employees made.Very disappointed in the service today. Called in our Order at 7:30am today. Arrived at the location just to find out they sold our order because they stated “they were running low” & that why they sold our order. So they didn’t want to disappoint the other customer so they figured they would disappoint us. My husband just wanted to get our order since today is Mother’s Day. We definitely will tell all our friends & family who live in Schertz not to support your establishment anymore. We have always been told that we can call in orders but never did we think we would get this type of service with Rios. The 2 young guys did not even know what to say to my husband. They just looked at each other with nothing to say.

Ive been coming here since they opened and they have always had issues with running out. Barbacoa is in the name and you run out at 9am? Which you would think it’s a good thing right? (gotta be good if they are always running out) Well that’s wrong. The barbacoa flavor is never consistent (today was bland). I’ve also had it where it was good. But you never know what you are gonna get. And on top of that at what point do you stop raising the prices. Every time I come they’ve gone up. Look at the old pictures prices compared to now almost a 50% increase. Bring the prices back down because it’s definitely not worth what you are charging. Time to start looking for a new place.

Not a restaurant style business. The best barbacoa within 25 miles. Definitely worth the drive from New Braunfels for us . Wish they had a shop this way.

Rios shouldn't even advertise that they have tamales or menudo.
Always out!
930 am and already out.
You would think after a few years they would have it figured out.
But them prices keep don't stop rising...

My son bought Barbacoa & Tamales, Sunday Nov 5, 2023 the food was fresh and tasted great. My husband bought Barbacoa & Tamales, Sunday Nov 12, 2023 the food was not fresh, reheating the Barbacoa on Monday 13th, it smelled bad. The flour tortillas are always raw. Food is very expensive to be throwing it away.

It should be noted this location only provides Take Out Service. There aren’t tables and chairs nor restrooms to use. But for what it is currently it does provide Exceptional Service and Food. It is Hot, Flavorful, and Ready to Eat. The Barbacoa is the Best Barbacoa anywhere. I recommend getting there early as they run out and the last few orders of the day usually have more fat.I have been coming to this location for the past 3 years. I wish they had a location in New Braunfels. The 30 Minute Drive to Schertz is definitely worth this Incredible Barbacoa. Price is worth it and very budget friendly. I highly recommend this Barbacoa.
