I don't know what happened to this place.I used to go up and buy 2 pounds of brisket and a couple of sides and bring it home.So when somebody was visiting, I went up.and it lived up to there logo. Worst barbecue in Texas, it was disgusting.
We ordered 4 people. 3 had brisket and one had the half chicken and it was absolutely disgusting. I ordered the moist because I bragged how good this place was terrible. That half of chicken was cold when I when I went back up to the counter. Because they had given us an incut spoke to the manager and said this is supposed to be moist and she said that is almost, but if you're not happy I guess I can get you some more. Are the time I finished with? Everything came back to the table. Of course. My food was cold. I had a biscuit sandwich again. Didn't wanna go up and complain again because we were all hungry. We tried to sit outside and the amount of dust on the tables and the napkin holders was also disgusting. We watch people standing around from changing something simple like a trash can liner. Then watching the manager and the employee sitting there playing on their cellphones in the middle of the dining room. It took 10 minutes before they put a new bag in that trash can. Then we went to go to the restroom and the smell was so bad. We wouldn't even use it. We had to wait till we got home. I don't know who's running this place or what happened to it, but I'll tell you. You have lost your tremendous amount of business just from the people I kno and if anyone asks, I would never send him to this place. I don't know what happened, but you took something that was a good product and made it an absolute disaster. This is the worst place I have ever been to and anyone can see on my reviews. I never speak like thit was absolutely horrible. The only.
Bright side was the person who took our order with a smile and a young gentleman who was working in the back who gave us samples of the green corn. He had a smile and was very friendly. And that is the only bright spot from our entire visit if you can smell the bathrooms and you have a manager and for employees just standing around. And no one cares about the business to even wipe the napkin holders outside with the amount of dust and dirt that was on them. They even told us to go sit inside and it was a nice day again. Absolutely, disgusting. Don't waste your time there. I wouldn't even get gas from this place.
I would choose any place other than this one for barbecue. No wonder that tago place wasn't open. Who would even go up there again? Avoid this place at all cost. I could make a long list of the other things. I've said enough again. Do not waste your time money and effort in a place that obviously does not care about anything from their appearance to their food to their managers. And to most of the employees except the 2 I mentioned.

First time I come to Rudy's and brisket was dry.
Place looks very run down.
The Bbq sauce on the table was spoiled.
Staff was nice but everything else was not so great.

Price for quality of meat is highly disappointing. Friendly and nice staff but the meat is just awful.

On Mon 9/2/24 I ordered delivery via DoorDash from Rudy’s in Selma, TX. I spent $97.50 only to receive slimy, grey chicken. The brisket was mostly fat and the ribs were burnt with little/no meat. I’ve never been so disappointed with an order. I basically trashed the whole order except for the corn and the potato salad. I had to cook a completely different meal for my family of three. Shame on whoever actually let that order out the door. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I've been hesitant to write this review, but I feel it's important to share my experience. A few days ago, I visited Rudy's and was quite disappointed. I understand that prices have increased across the board, but if you're going to charge higher rates for your food, at the very least, the dining area should be clean for customers to enjoy their meals.

To start, the brisket was excessively fatty, which was disappointing. When we tried to sit down for our meal, we were overwhelmed by a large number of gnats. They were everywhere! Ultimately, we left feeling dissatisfied and upset. This was not a pleasant experience at all, Rudy’s :( !

** the sweet corn and mac & cheese were amazing… that saved the day! **

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I tried a sample of their "brisket" and my goodness I have never tasted a more sorry excuse for "moist meat" crust was more black than an African native, although, they could probably make something taste better. The meat lacked flavor whatsoever, there wasn't even a small hint of smoke flavor, it was purely burnt skin on the brisket. This place should be ashamed of selling that and calling it bbq, that was a disgrace.

Worst Rudy’s in Texas. Limited menu, dry almost inedible food and the place was infested with nats. I’ve been to Rudy’s across the state and this place is absolutely horrible. No breakfast tacos, no sandwiches, no choices in cut. Wish I could give it a lower score. Avoid this location.

Rudy's BBQ near Randolph Air Force Base serves up some seriously flavorful brisket that's always perfectly smokey. What sets this location apart is the cool vibe in their dining area, decked out with local air force memorabilia and historical photos of the base. It's a great spot to soak in some local history while enjoying a delicious meal. Plus, they show love to the military community by offering discounts to military and veterans. During the visit, it was noted that veterans of the Korean War, Vietnam War, and WWII got free BBQ – now that's some serious hometown hospitality. With great food, good vibes, Blue Bell ice cream, and Shell gasoline available at the pump, it's easy to make this Rudy's a personal favorite.

If you want to experience a good clean Rudy's. Make the drive to Rudy's in New Braunfels. It's worth the extra 15 min drive. This place is not it at all.

We settled on Rudy's because another BBQ place was closed. My husband declared he did not like Rudy's ribs years ago, so I thought brisket might be a safe bet. I have had worse brisket once before at this very location. That time they gave me almost all fat. This time the brisket had not been cooked long enough so it was tough. Come on Rudy's. Low and slow is how you BBQ brisket. It's a shame that this place offers up such sorry food these days.

This place is not just a gas station, is also a full bbq pit, with a small ice cream parlor. It's pretty good. It's pretty good.
