We chose this restaurant because I had never had a schnitzel before & have seen them in german street food videos on YouTube. So I ordered the Jaggerschnitzel, which was topped with a traditional mushroom gravy & I really enjoyed it! Being from Germany I was very curious about the German food that was served here. We were pleasantly surprised, the schnitzel was spot on as was the red cabbage. Cudos to the cook!!! The price was very reasonable and the service was outstanding. Desiree is a delight, fast and super friendly, that is what good customer service looks like!!!! We came all the way from Carlsbad NM just to try this place. Texas 1809 did not disappoint, we will be back!!
The food was delicious and as close to home cooking as you can get. My oh my that chicken fry, and the pineapple, jalapeño margarita *chef's kiss*! Our server, Emery, was an absolute doll. The drive to Slaton is well worth it!
