My wife and I agree that we had our best meal here while on this trip. It was by far the most savory meal we had. Service was great. Staff was friendly and helpful.Dietary restrictions: I am a diabetic and the meal I ate did not affect my blood sugar.

The server was great! We had the seafood tempura and the batter was not cooked through, mushy and greasy with no seasoning. I had a sushi roll and it was a bit fishy.

Pretty good food. Can't believe it's one of the few places that sells sushi ? around. With the location being near the ocean, you would expect seafood to be the main dish everywhere. Great place none the less ?

I will preface my review by informing the reader that I travel for work. I am gone from home for multiple months at a time and normally only see my house a few weeks out of the year. The reason that is important is because I love sushi. I get sushi usually twice a week at least. Normally, each time I get it is in a different place, a different restaurant. I have easily been to over 300 individual sushi joints in the past 5 years. I only leave a review when it is terrible, or fantastic. That being said, Kohnami is FANTASTIC.The food is fresh (no surprise there, the resturaunt is a few hundred yards from the ocean), nicely proportioned, and unique. They have lots of choices for sushi rolls. Far more than the usual ten or so you see at every sushi place in the country. It was incredibly tasty with just the right amount of each ingredient. The miso soup I had was some of the best I’ve experienced (although I confirmed it is NOT made in house).Service was fantastic. I sat at the sushi bar, and the chef went so far as to ask what I prefer for the chefs choice nigiri I got. He was fast and friendly, we had a pleasant conversation and he didn’t miss a beat while multitasking in this way. He plated the food very beautifully and told me what each thing on my plate was when he handed it to me. The waitress was very kind and we also had some decent conversation. Made sure I was happy multiple times, very quick with her service, and had a genuine personality which made the experience enjoyable. The atmosphere in the restaurant is quite nice. Nothing crazy or overly fancy. But clean, welcoming and cozy feeling. The only reason it has 4 stars is because that’s a rating reserved for overly bougie places that have gold plated tables and amethysts in the silverware. There is plenty of seating and options for more private areas tucked away in corners or in the middle of the room for those who like having their conversations heard by all.Overall I genuinely loved this place and will come back to it the next time I’m in the area, be it a week from now or 10 years. Thank you for reading my review. I hope it helped.Parking: Strip mall style parking that doesn’t get overcrowdedWheelchair accessibility: Very gently sloping wheelchair ramp in front of store and plenty of space to move around inside.

They only had one server for the floor so we were waiting quite a while for them to even take our order though the server was trying hard.My orange chicken was swimming in sauce to the point it drowned my rice.

Server extremely dismissive and rude. I told him I bit into my sushi and it tasted like dirt, and I found a poop track all the way down. He told me all shrimp has that, and when I said my other sushi pieces didn't have that taste, he said "oh so this must be a new experience for you huh? would you like your bill?" I was simply making sure the shrimp was ok for me and my son to consume as I am not familiar with shrimp and have never eaten shrimp that wasn't deveined.I didn't want anything for free, just the reassurance from the cook that it was ok, but it's like the servers were afraid to ask the cooks and just shut me down and handed me the check. Very disappointing.

This place was awesome. Good food, good people, service and a cute atmosphere. I had the bulgogi, I only got through less than half. It was loaded up with cabbage too, the crunch is great. I don’t think their miso was from a mix either which is surprising. The waiter was great too. Colton. Deserves a raise lol. I’ll be back..

Not really Japanese. The Nabeyaki udon has no meat in it.Every Japanese restaurant in the world has pork in the Nabeyaki udon. It didn't even have an egg in it. Just 2 shrimp tempura. Beware the rolls of sushi are half rolls. What a rip off. The tepenyaki looked fun though.
