We me friends for dinner and we’re excited for a speak easy experience. The vibe was amazing. The music choice was a little weird; since it was a speak easy I wasn’t expecting to hear country and pop hits, but I guess you have to appeal to the masses. (Not that I mind country or pop, it’s just not what I expect for a prohibition era speak easy vibe) It was pretty crowded for a random Tuesday night. The acoustics make it quite loud. But overall the vibe or A+.
Our server was amazing. The runners were another story. I’m not sure who was confused, but every drink or food item was placed in front of the wrong person. And they didn’t even try to verify, they just plopped the plate down. My fiancé ordered a martini, and even the 2nd one was put in front of me - even though he had an empty martini glass in front of him and I had a full Old Fashioned in front of me. So that was pretty irritating. They didn’t care at all that they weren’t getting it right.
The food was ok. I wouldn’t call it “bar food”, but it’s not great food. My fries were overcooked to the point of being shoes string potatoes that you buy in a can. They were crunchy to a fault. My fiancés fries were fine. The sauce on my steak was a bit gummy. The steak was perfectly cooked. The spinach artichoke dip was good. The deviled eggs weren’t my thing, but everyone else liked them.
I would go back for drinks and apps.

Unfortunately, they don’t honor the hours that they have posted, and not only did they close early, but they even displayed reservations available for 10:30 PM despite not staying open until then.
Had a wonderful time at the Cakebread/Chef Menu event last night. Food was delicious and service was top notch. Thanks for a great evening out.

Love the Volstead vibe! So nice to have an option that ISN'T the typical, run-of-the-mill dining experience with boring menu items. From the decor and atmosphere to the food and drink, they hit the target in offering a unique and memorable guest experience. The service is top-notch. Great place, so be sure to put it on your "must try" list.
