Was planning on having pizza Friday but decided to try BBQ instead. Should have gone to the pizza place! The ribs were so fatty I could only eat one. I threw the other 2 in the trash when I got home. The sausage didn’t have a good flavor so I didn’t finish it either. My wife had brisket and she said it had a good flavor but was also fatty. The coleslaw was good and so was the spicy corn. The cobbler was excellent. We recently moved to the area from Las Vegas. I had heard Texas BBQ was the best. We will try other places but won’t be going back here.

Sides are AMAZING...but I wouldn't come after 3p on Sunday or you will likely be treated like you are in the way and holding up the staff. When they say they're closing at 5 they mean everything is going to be broken down, packed up, and put away by 5 and they plan on being in their cars heading home. No problem taking your $100 at 4p but expect to be made to feel like you're overstaying your welcome. Very limited food items left. Staff breaking down drink and condiment stations. Disappointing service for a place with a great reputation for good food.

Found my new favorite BBQ place in central Tx. No pretentious nonesense - just fantastic BBQ at a fantastic price. Everything is delicious! Don’t skip the spicy corn or the beans, though. Wow are they good! Just a wonderful, authentic BBQ experience. Lovely staff, too. Kudos!

Opie's BBQ in Austin is a must-visit for any BBQ lover! The “Meat Served by the Hour” is definitely worth the drive from the city, with perfectly smoked brisket, ribs, and sausage that melt in your mouth. The flavor is incredible, and the portions are generous. The rustic atmosphere adds to the charm, and the service is friendly and welcoming. If you’re in the area, don't miss this spot—it’s a true Texas BBQ experience. Highly recommend!

Brisket, turkey, and butter beans were fantastic. Disappointed with pork spare ribs, too fatty, and they left the membrane on the back of the ribs, which was very tough.

I’m here to say thank you Opie’s BBQ for supporting our traveler Pedro from Brazil. They were Very kind to bring great food to our boy big thank you and I will visit you soon. Thanks so much Seth. God bless your business.
Got BBQ to go, I'm aways skeptical about eating BBQ out because it's expensive and most places cannot do it right. Well this place gets it, ribs we're great and the sliced brisket was absolutely amazing, highly recommend!

Good barbecue. Brisket plate ends up at $27 due to sides selected apparently not correct sides , not clear what is side options.

Restaurantji Recommends
I met the owners of Opie's and they invited me to try their restaurant. All I can say is get there early. When they run out of meat, they close. This place has world class BBQ. I brought a local legend in there with me, Dick Schieffer. I didn't have to tell him twice, he knew exactly where this place was. We both left with BBQ all over our faces haha.... Amazing experience....

I expected it to be a little pricey for a little local place but when they told me forty-three bucks for 6 ribs, wow! I love dogs but one of the employees, big dog, was constantly barking and was very annoying.
