We were hungry for meat, been in Galveston for the last 7 days , we ate good but mostly seafood and a lot of it !! So looked on TripAdvisor to find good meat , And Big Smiths looked good , so off we went !! And it was the best BBQ I have ever had in Texas !! We both ordered 1/2 rack of Pork Ribs the were fork tender and so good !!
This is the most friendliest nicest people that do what they say they’re going to do if you ever have a problem you just call them and they will make it right first class treatment tonight. Marinate in here for 15 years can’t brag enough.
The BBQ sauce is the bomb. Great smokey sweet heat flavor to it. My go to item is the Brisket Tacos: 3 Tortillas with crunchy onion, topped with brisket, then cheese. Side order of choice! Best BBQ tacos I have ever eaten. I have also had the ribs and brisket ....something to savor!! Restaurant has excellent atmosphere and is right up the road from Lake Fork/Yantis!! Great place to fill a belly after the day on the lake!
Takeout: Yes
We were just visiting Sulphur Springs and did a search for restaurants. Big Smith’s showed up and we thought “Why not?” Worth the drive. Food was good, service was great, and atmosphere unique. So glad we went.
Our first big smith visit and was a decent meal. Have passed by many times talking about it this time we stopped. The Dotter ordered grill cheese which in her words was kraft slice cheese on toast and was ok with side of mac n cheese an the mac n cheese was good. My Wife ordered the 2 meat combo brisket and spicy sausage with potato salad and fried okra as sides the brisket was very good it was tender and great flavor (she gave me lil peices with "fat" lol)the sausage had a great flavor but had plenty spicy the fried okra was good. I ordered the Chicken fried steak with potato salad and fried okra the CFS was a good size steak was battered well was tender and taste was pretty good my okra was good. The potato salad that both the Wife and me had wasn't to our liking at all was mustard potato salad good pickles and onion but then there was some spices in it that doesn't belong in any Texas potato salad tryed hard to figure out what spices it was some what of all spice or something just not like any potato salad I've ever had nor would order again and we've eaten a lot of potato salad. We also kept seein orders of onionrings pass by heaped up on a plate an had to add a order for us they were very good lite batter well cooked not too oily came with ranch and Chipotle ranch very tasty had to box a few was a lot. All in all good meal next time I'll order the brisket it was great.
Very busy restaurant. We were seated quickly and the server was quick and friendly. The pork ribs were the best part of the food we had. The onion ring appetizer is a huge portion and very tasty. Even the ribs were at least twice the serving you would get at other restaurants. Sauce is good, hush puppies are good. Catfish was hot and crispy, above average. Not the best I’ve had, but very good. Tea was fresh and our glasses were never empty. Mac and cheese was ok....opt for a different side item. Chopped sandwich was excellent. Overall very good food and service. Restaurant was packed and extremely warm inside......so just be prepared for that.
We had planned on eating here for my husbands 50th birthday. He was so looking forward to it after hearing great things about the food. Particularly, the all you can eat beef ribs we had heard so much about. We called in advance and was told to arrive a bit early. We were traveling about 45 min from our cabin so we made sure to leave a bit early. We arrive and we are seated right away and when the waitress comes over we already knew what we were ordering. All you can eat rib plate and an all you can eat shrimp and catfish for myself. I happen to mention to my husband I would just have a taste of his ribs,(I'm more of a seafood person) and the waitress immediately spoke out and said "oh,sharing is not allowed". I guess I wasn't sure what she meant so I asked her. She said, maybe she can explain it better and called over another waitress to further explain how a husband and wife cannot have a bite of each others food. If I wanted to taste the ribs,I would need to purchase an entire order at 21.99. Pft...needless to say we walked out and took our money to Seths. Ridiculous is putting it mildly and such a huge disappointment.
This was our first time to eat here. It is very rustic and interesting. There are peanuts on the table to snack on. People just throw the shells on the floor. We got the catfish and it was delicious. We ordered the onion rings for an appetizer but the serving was so big we couldn't finish them. Delicious!
My wife and I went with another couple, all ate something different, and everyone said it was great. One had the ribs and he NEVER uses barbeque sauce when he eats there because the flavor of the ribs is always so good. I had sausage and I ALWAYS use the sauce when I am there because the sauce is always so good. There was a large, loud, and happy crowd there just like normal; the peanuts were free and the shells were all over the floor; and the waitresses were fast, attentive, and seemed like they were always very nearby when we needed anything. We had a great time. If you have been there before it is still just like you remembered it. If you have never been there before expect great food served in a rustic environment because that is how it is everyday.

This resturant is a few miles outside of Sulphur Springs, rustic and lots of interesting, qurkie decor ideas going on....food is wonderful and worth the trip. We eat there often with a group from our church for lunch usually. Love it
Delicious
Good place
Ate at their new location with some local friends while fishing at Lake Fork. Down home friendly atmosphere and great service. Had the 1/2 rack pork ribs and a brisket taco. The ribs were awesome and a 1/2 rack was more than enough...had some left over for lunch the next day. Overall a pretty decent BBQ spot worth a try.
Nice, helpful hostess took my to go order and it came fairly quickly. Three meat plate was 15.95. I expected more meat. Sausage was dry from sitting around. Lots of okra - undercooked, almost raw. Tiny portion of squash - overcooked. We go there only because it's on the way home.
