Flake Bakery and Larder Reviews
This place is so cute. I had one of the best sandwiches ever here and my kid enjoyed a big blueberry muffin. The place, down to the plates and silverware are really cute. Great service and very clean. The bathroom is stocked quite well too.
I am a baker. I make biscuits pies, etc. from scratch in my own home. I am very good. I am not as good as Licia at Flake. Absolutely the best biscuit I have ever had in my entire life. Go! Get 14 biscuits. Also her pastries are phenomenal. Get 14 pastries too.
Today's sandwich was fabulous: Swiss cheese and flank steak with red onion and chimichurri on sourdough. Bonus was enough garlic in the sauce to keep vampires away for days. Looking forward to going back.

Flake Bakery and Larder is a true gem in Taylor, offering some of the most incredible pastries. The display case features a wide variety of pastry products, including browned butter chocolate chunk cookies, blueberry turnovers, hand pies, and scones. The biscuits are to die for, described as the best ever by an informal connoisseur, even better than other notable local versions. The menu also includes terrific sandwiches, like a fontina grilled cheese with apricot mostarda, and a biscuit with egg, arugula, and avocado.
The place itself is gorgeous with soul and character, featuring stunning, perfectly curated decor. The vintage furniture and color scheme add immense charm and a warm, aesthetic atmosphere. The service is extremely kind, friendly, and welcoming, with a passionate chef who makes visitors feel truly cared for. The bakery is very clean and well-stocked, down to the details like the plates and silverware.
Everything is flakly delicious and phenomenal, from the pastries to the sandwiches and cookies. The passion and love put into this bakery are clear in every detail, adding much-needed beauty and flavor to the community. It is absolutely worth a trip to the Austin area.
