The breakfast potatos were over cooked and the ham was 1/2 of a thin sandwich slice. Biscuit was ok.

My husband and I went to Bella Blue for the first time this morning and enjoyed it. Chicken fried steak and eggs were delicious as was the coffee. Excellent service!

This is my second visit to this restaurant for breakfast, and I came back specifically to give them a fair second chance. Unfortunately, the experience was almost identical both timesâand just as bad.
Let me start with the only positive: the servers were nice and polite on both visits and I tipped well because of that. The problem is not the staff. The problem is the food.
Both times I ordered pancakes, an omelet, and either hash browns or home fries. Both times, the food was flavorless and coldâliterally cold, not just âinitially hot but sat a minute too long.â The first visit, I had to send the hash browns back because they were cold and chewy, like they had been pre-made and scooped from a tray under a proper heat lamp. The second visit, I ordered home fries instead, and those were also cold. I sent those back and they returned with excessive grease. Same issue, different item.
The pancakes were just as bad. The first time, they came out cold and chewy. I placed the table butter on the pancakes but the butter didnât come close to melting. When I sent them back, it didnât seem like they made fresh onesâit felt like they were reheated, possibly in a microwave, because they came back lukewarm but still chewy. On my second visit, I even asked for them âfresh off the grill.â The waitress was polite and said yes, but the pancakes were still lukewarm and chewy. Same result.
The omelets also donât seem to be cooked fresh on a properly heated grill. They come out with that flat, rubbery, barely-warm texture that suggests low heat and pre-cooking rather than being made to order.
What makes this even more frustrating is the price. One veggie omelet with extra cheese, home fries, one pancake, and a Coke, plus a Philly cheesesteak omelet with hash browns and a sweet tea came out to $37 before tax. Thatâs not cheapâespecially for breakfastâand definitely not for food that arrives cold, chewy, and bland.
One thing that also stood out to me when I went back and looked at the reviews is that the restaurant almost never responds to customer feedbackâespecially the negative ones. Whether intentional or not, it comes across as a business thatâs relying on its reputation rather than actually engaging with or addressing customer concerns.
I honestly donât understand how this place has 4.5-star ratings. Based on my two visits, the food quality is not even close to what those reviews suggest. I wanted to like this place. I gave it a second shot. But at this point, the consistency of bad food tells me this is how they actually run their kitchen.
If youâre reading reviews trying to decide whether to go, donât be misled by the star rating alone. My experienceâtwice nowâhas been cold, flavorless, poorly prepared breakfast food with good service but a kitchen that clearly isnât doing its job.

This is a âno frills, delicious home-cooked foodâ kind of place. We went for breakfast - veggie omelette was FILLED with yummy goodness and it came with 2 biscuits and hashbrowns (my choice). Hubby loved his sausage with gravy. I hope their lunch food is as good as their breakfasts.

Nice spot in Temple, TX for Brunch!
Employees are nice except the owners family is so unprofessional. The nepotism that us customers can see from our chairs is appalling.

I brought an empty yeti cup so they could fill it while i had breakfast. Refused to serve me because i brought an EMPTY yeti in to drink out of to keep my coffee hot and to take a to go cup. Willing to pay for it all. I got up and left. There are other places to eat at than to be treated this way while wearing a 1st Cav veteran hat. These small businesses wonder why they struggle. First dont treat customers as if they are in bootcamp. The place had about 4 tables occupied at 8am. SMH. Unbelievable in todayâs economy.

Great local home style cooking and friendly personal service. The kids menu was well received by semi picky eaters. The chicken fried streak and broccoli were both delicious!!! Breakfast being available all day was a big bonus. You can never go wrong with waffles for a kid. Oh! And the appetizers were to die for. The best fried pickles we have EVER had and the cheese curds that we had to fight over at the table.
I called ahead to ensure they could fit 6 and by the time we got there, they already had tables pushed and utensils ready. The small things make the impact.
Highly recommend for a laid back atmosphere and just really good food at a great price.

Excellent food and service! We havenât been here before even though we have lived in Temple a few years. I wish we came sooner! Buffy made us feel right at home, the prices are more than fair and the food was delish with a generous portion size! We will definitely be back!
