The times I have gone, the food has been great. I recently ordered the 12oz new York strip, and it was cooked to perfection. I was celebrating my mom's birthday, and she also enjoyed her food. The only one who didn't was my dad because he ordered a medium well sirloin, and it was overcooked, yet still extremely pale on the outside. The 5 other people had no complaints, and neither have I, so I will assume that is an anomaly.
We were there on a Saturday night. The food was great. We've been here a few times when it was just so so. But this recent meal all the food was great. Had half chicken, potato salad, pea salad, sausage. What made the meal even more pleasurable was our waitress, Daisy. She greeted us enthusiasticly, genuinely. She was pleasant and very attentive. I’m a bbq and potato salad snob. I’ve lived here since 1995 and even lived in the Temple area but for whatever reason never went to this restaurant. First, the atmosphere is warm and inviting with the lodgie feel, lots of beautiful wood. Great old country music, not loud but distinguishable.
