There are countless articles boasting about the best places to eat kolaches in Texas, but if they fail to mention Kolache Kitchen in Temple, they haven’t seen anything yet. This little spot, run by Carol White—who learned the craft from her Czech grandmother—is an absolute Texas Czech treasure.
The moment you walk in, you’re transported to a simpler time, like when your grandpa would head to the local coffee shop to gossip with friends. It’s small, cozy, and wonderfully unmodernized. It doesn’t need to be—it’s authentic, just as it is.
My personal favorites are the strawberry cream cheese and apricot kolaches. In fact, I loved them so much that I served them at my wedding (because let’s be honest, when you’re Czech, a kolache tower is a must!). The cinnamon rolls are equally heavenly, with just the right balance of cinnamon, sugar, and softness.
If you’re in the mood for something savory, the sausage kolaches are a must-try. And don’t leave without grabbing a few dozen day-old kolaches to go—freeze them or eat on the way home. :)

Wanted to try this place, and it wasn’t great, not much of a selection and prices are way too high. I got 2 jalapeño and cheese kolaches the sausage part of it was horrible, hard to bite into and it was very thick it was not pleasant to bite into, not enough jalapeño or cheese or even bread for that matter with the amount of sausage.

I have tried many kolaches at different places. It wasn't till I tried kolache kitchen that I realized the ones I'd tried before we're garbage haha.
AMAZING! 10/10 . Everything is so delicious. My favorite is the jalapeño/cheese kolache. A Coworker brought me one once and after that I was hooked. Definitely recommend!

After watching Day tripper, we had to try this place. A 40 + year history of making kolaches with their family Czech recipe makes this place a must try. I tried the jalapeño and cheese sausage link kolache and it was delicious! The quality and portion size were great, and the taste was fantastic. The combination of spicy jalapeños and creamy cheese was a perfect match. I also tried the blueberry fruit kolache and it was equally tasty. The blueberry filling was sweet and flavorful, and the pastry was light and flaky. I would definitely recommend trying these delicious kolaches!

Visited on a saturday morning after seeing them on the show Day Tripper. Staff was very friendly and helpful, explained the types of kolaches. Both fruit and sausage kolaches were exceptional.

A quaint bakery with deeeelicious kolaches. My favorite is the ham and swiss. It's a hearty kolache, with a decently thick piece of ham in it. (Not a rolled up piece of lunch meat). I usually pair it with a couple fruit kolaches (peach and blueberry are a couple of my favorites, but they're ALL good). On Wed. they serve a lunch special. It's never the same, week to week; they have a rotating schedule for what they serve. For about $10, you get an entree, 2 sides, a fluffy roll (kolache bread!), and a dessert. Good ol' home cookin'... All the tasty!!
Parking: This place is pretty popular, so, while there IS plenty of parking, sometimes the lot is pretty full.
Kid-friendliness: The ladies inside are extremely kind and helpful. If your kiddo has questions, or whatever, they'll take care of them, too. My sons really enjoy this place.
Wheelchair accessibility: While the parking lot is like a dirt road, there IS a ramp into the business. I used to take my neighbor here every now and again. (She was wheelchair bound)
