Our family stumbled into Megg’s Café after a morning of errands in Temple, and it instantly felt like one of those places locals quietly treasure. The menu celebrates fresh, locally sourced produce, and you can taste the difference in every bite—from the bright, herb-packed omelets to the kind of house-made pastries you promise to “just sample” and end up finishing. The atmosphere has that easy, warm Texan charm—relaxed, unfussy, and full of people who look like they’ve been coming here for years. Service was friendly in the way that feels genuine, not scripted, which made dining here with kids surprisingly smooth. We were actually recommended Megg’s by someone we chatted with at Acre Wood Dental - Temple, and honestly, it was the best tip of the day. The café has that perfect balance of comfort and freshness, making it a go-to spot for families who want a meal that feels both hearty and wholesome.

This place is wonderful. I ordered one egg (sunny side up), toast and jam (apple cinammon bread), and fruit from the a la carte menu. The food came out fresh and delicious. The service and atmosphere are nice.

Update: I recently tried the Avocado Toast which was delicious! The Old-Fashioned Oatmeal is a hearty option.

Great food. Expensive for what you get. The people bussing tables were WAY too loud slamming stuff when clearing tables. The table next to mine was being cleared and it sounded like a demolition project.

The Banana Nut Bread French toast tested good, really soft and undercooked in the center. The sausage was an utter disappointment, though they were served on was piping hot plate, the sausage was room temperature and tasted like they were left out on the counter overnight.

Soup was good, my reuben couldn't recommend it. My wife had chicken pesto she thought it was good but the ice tea was either old or poor quality.

Great food, but at the cost of a 2 hour wait, horrible customer service skills, and $50 for 2 people.

It seams that it is under new ownership. The service and the quality of food was not good for the price. I ordered the sweet potato hash and it had a terrible seasoning on it.

Very disappointed. Never been a great fan of the place but I wanted to give them another chance. I ordered a chorizo omelette with pico and cheese. After taking a few bites it felt as if something was missing, so I checked and NO CHORIZO! That was the main thing! The waitress took my plate to show the manager. Then she brings it back and asked me if I wanted them to remake it. No, it had already taken too long to begin with. Also asked me if I wanted my plate back. Sure, you take my plate to show someone and then bring it back to and I’m supposed to take it back? Would you?

Where to start !!! I have been coming here since 2017 and it was a gem, went back several times always good, clean and attentive staff, then Covid happened and it was hard for everyone. One thing needs to be said though, why do they think it’s ok to let the service go down followed with the cleanliness of the establishment, bathrooms dirty and broken down, menus full of kids crayon drawings and coffee/ food stains. And to add salt to the wound our waiter was awol. We have to be thankful to a different waitress that saw us sitting and asked if we have been helped. So she took over and after that it went much better. The food was ok even though the chicken was over fried, so it was, dark and dry. I hope that the owner of this establishment takes a good look and fixes all the things that are going downhill and maybe talk to the wait staff so nobody gets left behind . Thank you Marissa for helping us out.

Seriously so good!! Fresh and so much better than any chain breakfast/brunch place. Waitress was great, and we were so impressed with the quality of food. Will be coming back!
