Great staff there, the best drinks around..reminds me of the bar in Cheers!
If you’re a fan of The Big Lebowski then this is your place. The vibe is definitely old school and vintage compared to your upscale bowling locations. If you want a place for casual bowling, drinks, and time with friends on the affordable side, then this is the place. The staff were nice and helpful overall. I could see myself coming back here with the boys.
My only negative feedback is about the smoking and lanes breaking down. I won’t belabor much in that since other folks have pointed this out. It would be nice if there was more notification on the website or door that there is smoking indoors for folks with respiratory issues. I’m only saying this because my spouse has asthma and I could see that being an issue. The lane we were in broke down several times but the staff were quick to fix it, and eventually moved us to a different lane and gave us extra time without us even asking!
Personally, I like the vibe of the place and was not bothered by the smoking. The lane issue was annoying but I think it was handled the best way possible.
Great place. Smaller, local vibe with friendly staff and friendly bowlers that I happen to be next to! Will visit here again.
Love having a bowling alley right in our community!! Food is delicious too
I’m not someone who usually leaves complaints, but I felt this experience needed to be shared. My wife and I stopped in after a long 13-hour workday. It was icy and hectic outside, and we were simply hoping to have one drink before heading home and getting up early for work the next morning.
My wife had unfortunately forgotten her ID, and the brunette bartender with glasses let her know she needed it, which I completely understand. When it was my turn, I presented my valid government passport. I was told it wouldn’t be accepted due to it being “too sketchy lately.” While I can appreciate caution, this was disappointing, especially since I’ve been coming to this establishment—and others in the area—for over seven years without issue.
What added to the frustration was seeing a child present in the venue, which felt inconsistent with how strictly identification was being handled. There were also no chairs available, no clear precautions beyond convenience for the staff, and overall the service felt rushed and unwelcoming.
I want to be clear that I still like this place and would like to come back. This was just a disappointing experience, especially after a long day, and I hope it can be taken as constructive feedback rather than just a complaint.
Absolutely the best place to bowl. Vibes? Fantastic. Drinks? Poured by the best. Karaoke? Top notch.
10/10 great place to be for a night out
Smoky smell. $17 an hour for bowling. Wish the prices are lower. Lane had some issues... Attendant promptly fixed it. 3 star for pricing and smoky smell.
Terrible. Smoking is right there and it isn’t closed off and was breathing cigarettes the entire time, my husband went in before me because I was in a store next-door and had already paid, if not we would’ve left
Yes this is a cool place to bowl. The bowling machines are so original from back in the day. It’s a good place to visit and enjoy with some friends. You can order from the bar and watch some games on the screens also.
Lakes Lanes is a true old-school bowling alley — nothing fancy, just great vibes, great people, and the sound of pins crashing. The staff are top-notch: friendly, quick to help, and they make everyone feel like a regular. The league bowlers are serious competitors but super welcoming — competitive without being intimidating.
The place has that nostalgic, classic feel — wood lanes, neon signs, bar food that actually hits the spot, and a laid-back crowd that loves to bowl. It’s clean where it counts, the lanes are well maintained, and the prices are fair.
If you’re looking for a flashy modern bowling lounge, this isn’t it — but if you love genuine atmosphere, friendly folks, and real bowling culture, Lakes Lanes in The Colony is the place.

Tony was a great help
Never been here but from the photos I'm seeing it's pretty cool. Very cool seeing the retro Brunswick Frameworx scoring system and the GS 96 pinsetter? If I'm not mistaken. It's got a cool retro vibe to it. Might have to check it out sometime.
Edit: been a bowling fan for a long time and I know lots about pinsetters and scoring systems
Take a trip to the 90s at this bowling ally. Nostalgia lives here. It is older and grimy but a lot of fun if you don't mind a more retro feel.
Had a bad experience here but it's hard to blame them, they were severely understaffed. I think one guy was trying to handle the whole facility, including food/bar stuff. Our lane malfunctioned several times and was stuck for 20+ minutes and couldn't find any staff to help, and saw other lanes having similar issues. Maybe it would be better going at another time, not really sure how staffed they are normally.
Total nostalgia old school! Went with friends and had the most fun we’ve had in a while! Smoking is allowed at the bar and that to me goes along with the nostalgia. Drinks very cheap and reasonable. They had to reset our kane quite a bit but for the price totally worth it,
