This was our family’s first trip to the Texas Renaissance Festival. This event is huge. They offer on ground camping and if you have enough people you can get a clan campground just for your clan. I recommend valet parking for the festival if not staying there. Nearly everyone was dressed in costumes. There is so much to do, eat and drink it would be hard to list in one review. This new area at TRF is the perfect spot for cooling down on those warmer days in October! There are plenty of seats and some shaded areas that have a nice mist sprinkler system- so like, basically outdoor air conditioning. Didn't get a chance to check out the drink/food options, but there was an upstairs area that looked pretty cool. Definitely check it out during your TRF adventure!

The festival in itself is a lot of fun, costumes are great, there are a lot of shows and entertainment. What was not amusing was the elaborate animal abuse. Horses, ponies, elephants and llamas. There is no ethical way to get an elephant to accept a human on its back. It was depressing. The festival does not need animals for entertainment, there's plenty to see as is.
