Stopped by for a quick lunch and had the best food and service ever. Our server Annalise was super! Gave great recommendations and incredibly knowledgeable about the food and surrounding area! Could not have asked for a better server and experience!

This place is one of my favorite places to go. Service is always wonderful, the food amazing, to say the least, and the drinks well let me put it this way their bartender knows what he/she is doing. You get your monies worth it is strong and still tastes amazing. When I visit Tyler this is my must go to places.

This was my first visit to Abuelo's. 1st, Very nice, very enjoyable atmosphere. Definitely the cleanest, neatest Tex-Mex restaurant I've visited in quite a while. The service was excellent, though I was there during off hours. Still, my waitress was friendly, efficient and diligent. Very pleasant. Now, to the food. I ordered the Grande platter as it offered some of my favorite Tex-mex dishes. While I didn't like the chicken enchilada at all, the beef and cheese enchiladas were both excellent. The cheese chili relleno was very good. The crispy beef taco was pretty much average, about the same as you'd expect from Taco Bell or Dairy Queen. Not bad, but just average. I found the inclusion of "guacamole" in the meal to be a bit amusing as it appeared to be an after thought. There might have been a tablespoon of guacamole included, served on a bed of lettuce that truly dwarfed the miniscule serving of guac. The rice and beans were very good. I really enjoyed the Tortilla chips they serve, very light, crisp and tasty. Yummy. I requested some steamed corn tortillas to go with the meal and I got the weirdest little tortillas I've ever seen. About the size of the corn tortillas they use for street tacos, they were much thicker than regular tortillas and had ragged edges like they had been thrown at the griddle and had splattered. And they weren't very tasty either. very bland and pasty. Overall, I would recommend Abuelo's to anyone wanting decent Tex-Mex in a great atmosphere. I wish they offered a "Make your own Combo" offering as some other Tex-Mex restaurants do so you could choose the menu items you want. If I go back, it will be to try their enchilada plate, so I can choose the kind of enchiladas I get.

The main thing, is don’t order the queso, it taste like it came straight out of a can, for $10, it’s not worth even a fraction of that, besides the queso our entrees were pretty decent (tamales & fajita steak tacos) not the best, but pretty tasty! Service was great, our waiter was very attentive but our booth was not cleaned and the floor next to it had a big puddle of water. I would say not worth the price but not terrible

Our server was fantastic (I forgot his name). This was our first time and I was not impressed with any of our food but we might give it another try. The beans were dry but tasted good. They just looked like they’d been sitting out all day.
