we have loved coming to the Caldwell zoo for many years now. I love getting to take my daughter to the zoo I grew up with. I do wish for more events and activities like Christmas or Halloween but im glad to see it growing and changing.

What a true gem we have here in East Texas. The Caldwell Zoo is amazing. The exhibits are beautifully set up and taken care of. Animals appear to be healthy and happy and the staff are always smiling. I’m super impressed with this small town zoo and am looking forward to becoming members soon.

Cheeseburgers were filling; fries were good but not as salted as I would’ve liked. (Personal opinion); overall awesome place to eat if you’re at Codwell Zoo.

took a family trip yesterday 6/9/2024 for my grand daughters first time to the zoo! the zoo was fantastic but the only complaint I have is it's not very accessible for the handicap! we had 2 disabled people with us that we had to push up hills that were very steep! yeah you can rent wheelchairs but those hills are too steep! I would recommend investing in electric scooters for the disabled to be able to actually enjoy their time with the family and experience! unfortunately I will not bring my family back until something more reasonable is done for the disabled! the amount spent at that place daily, it can be done if the zoo choses too!

Outstanding place to spend time with the grandson when I’m visiting East Texas, never gets old, animals are always incredible and his favorite part is being able to feed the giraffes!

Good Zoo in a great Piney Woods location. The Zoo does not have a lot of animals like the huge city zoos, but a great selection and they are all in large natural habitats and they are easy to see. The location is great. It was hard to find parking, it was that popular!

Really laid back zoo. My family always has a great time! Getting the family membership pays for itself within 2 to 3 visits.

Wonderful zoo! We love coming here because a lot of the exhibits are close up which is great for the smaller kids. We also find it to be much less crowded and the exhibits don’t feel as spaced out (less walking for the littles). We can rush through it in 1.5hr’s or take our time and spend several hours. The giraffe feeding and the bird sanctuary were big hits with our 2yo. Clean facilities, well maintained habitats, & very friendly staff. Now during Covid they have spaced entry times which made the place feel practically empty.

I can only echo the accolades of other writers; this zoo was a delight--perhaps our favorite across the country. It is designed for people to enjoy being close to the animals, and for the animals to have authentic environments in which to live and roam. First off, it was completely accessible. Although some of the hills were a bit steep (pushing a hand-operated wheelchair could be a challenge), the mobility scooter worked really well there. Secondly, the setup was amazing. The cafe is located slightly above the Elephant, Giraffe and Savannah areas; visitors can easily see the animals. While we were there, two young elephants decided to play in their pool, so we spent our lunch time watching not only them, but also the giraffes that came to observe the fun! Every exhibit was a photo waiting to happen. Add to this the spotlessly clean environment, the friendly and helpful staff, and the gorgeous fall day and we couldn't have had a better time. Well done, Caldwell Zoo!!! P.S. They participate in the reciprocal zoo membership program. Check the list and bring your membership card and photo ID for each eligible person.

What a great zoo. I wasn’t expecting such a big city zoo in a small town but we were pleasantly surprised. The place was huge with large exhibits, well groomed grounds and every animal imaginable. Admission was only $12.50 each and well worth it. Great experience.
