It's a hidden gem. The owners and staff are exceptionally kind. The food is delicious and they keep things very clean! The space is cozy and quaint on a slow morning or afternoon but even when it is busy, it's still great to sit and enjoy a meal with friends or a date. I love their business! Very thankful to God for them.

There are places in Dallas I used to go that I would tell the owner or manager that “if we had a place like this in Tyler, I’d be eating here every day”. That statement came home to roost when I discovered Las Mejores Gorditas, and for quite some time, I went there daily or every few days! It’s *that* good!

They’re in the old Bud Jones location on East Irwin, and they have several parking spaces out front and more in the back. Now, their front lot is almost always full, but that’s because it’s a terrific place to pick up food. (Don’t worry, it’s a quick in-and-out, and it’s absolutely worth the hassle.) I always get my gorditas to go, but they do have a small, very clean dining area with about five or six tables inside.

They just do Gorditas (except on the weekend when they do Menudo or posole), but they do have several kinds of drinks available that are really tasty! If you’ve never had a gordita, this is the place to try one! They build them here like a pita pocket only it’s made of MASA that’s a bit thicker than a corn tortilla. (I always get corn.) Some places fry their Gorditas in oil but they grill them here, which lends the Gordita an extraordinary crispness that I am absolutely crazy about.

Each kind of gordita has a unique set, a flavors, spices, and textures. My favorite would probably be the guisado rojo with mozzarella. It almost has a chili like flavor in the spices and it’s very nicely seasoned! A very close second is the shredded Chicken Tinga, which I order combined with seasoned, grilled rajas (peppers). Fill them with anything! They’ll be delicious.

My other favorites include the Revoltillo (with the colors of the Mexican flag: eggs, beans, cheese and green sauce), the dessibrada, the potatoes and chorizo, and napalitos (cactus strips) with potatoes or cheese. I order all of mine on corn (Maiz). ¡Siempre maiz! Oh, and be sure to get extra sauce (thank me later).

I will say I’ve never had a bad gordita here. Also at least one of the owners (Maria and Luis) is almost always there—usually in the kitchen. I think you’re gonna like ‘em!

Shut up and take my money! I got this Order DoorDashed. It was a great temperature, and arrived super fast. As an El Paso born, the flavor took me back home. 10/10 on the taste, the verde did not disappoint. I want to feel pain when I’m eating verde anything! Also, they have probably the best Agua Frescas in town!!! I will be coming back.

Everything is very delicious but from time to time the attention of the girls of some should improve for good customer service

The gorditas are the best. They are so delicious, I love the beans with cheese and the papa con carne.
Absolutely my place to go when craving

Customer service sucks! Food is decent!

Lady taking orders has a terrible attitude. Rolls eyes on you, makes all kinds of faces! She doesn’t need to be in any type of customer service role. Probably have never left a bad review but i have also never seen this type of behavior anywhere else.

We all have bad days! But it seems that this is a common issue in this place.

The gorditas were very good, I reached the last of the flour very early so as not to have gorditas of flour taking into account that I arrived at approximately ten in the morning, despite this inconvenience everything was fine.

If I could give negative stars, I would. My experience was horrible. First of all, the cashier was extremely rude. I would ask something and she would cut me off. She had an ugly, unwelcoming attitude and I could tell just by looking at her facial expressions. Dealing with her was the worst. Second, if I had known the size of the gorditas for their price, I would not have come here in the first place. They were not good either. Never coming here ever again.
