Visited late on a Monday night about an hour before closing time so the restaurant was almost empty. So I can't comment on atmosphere. Service was great and my pizza was surprisingly great! Crust was fantastic and baked perfectly with a slight char around the edges. Toppings were generous and I was genuinely pleased because the building outside is so generic looking. Small pizza was larger than I expected and I took the untouched half that was leftover to go. Inside is a cozy family owned restaurant and my biggest surprise was that my bottle of Shiner and the frozen glass was the coldest beer I've had in Tyler. In town for a consulting assignment and this is now my place for a weekly Italian fix. I look forward to exploring the rest of the menu. Highly recommend at least for pizza for now. Family friendly. Appears to have a full bar. I glanced at the wine list and it looked like a good mix of affordable house wines and a small list of other wines at a reasonable range in prices. Thanks for a great experience.

Mario’s is the real deal- family owned- staff is very attentive and professional. Plenty of vegetarian choices. Loved that there were so many photographs of times gone by. Mira was our waitress- lovely human. We will be back anytime we are in Tyler TX.

Wonderful food, service and atmosphere. Mario's is the pearl in a sea of mediocre chain restaurants. It’s a true Tyler treasure.

The food tastes like a college kid trying to cook and the decor is like the kid’s grandma is trying to decorate the restaurant at the same time. This place has a lot of unused potential. Its atmosphere is inviting but it needs better quality dishes and a more organized and attentive staff (we waited for 20 minutes at the front desk when there were empty tables and no one attended to us). Everyone is friendly but this restaurant is below average and not worth a special occasion dinner.

Been coming here for 30 years; I have never had anything but the best experience.

We were seated right away. The restaurant was decorated with walls of pictures, most of which were actors and actresses, most of which have passed. It was fun trying to name them all. The music was great, but not too loud-mostly slow and nice. My husband and I were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary and really enjoyed the ambiance, with a candle on the table. We ordered the Chicken Picata and the (name?). It was a platter of fried shrimp, a cannelloni, spaghetti, and a meatball. Both dishes were very delicious. We were served hot bread and a small plate of garlic in olive oil. The waitress was friendly and very attentive. The prices were reasonable. We had a very nice experience for our anniversary.

I just love this place.
I grew up in a very Italian neighborhood and Mario's reminds me of a local restaurant that I frequented. From the photographs on the walls to the best tasting foods, that are perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Servers are all very professional.
If you are looking for original Italian dishes, this is the place.

Toscana platter, chicken piccata. Very good and tasty. Food stayed nice and hot while eating. Coffee also very good. Only good things here. Starter bread loaf is something unique. Yes, I appreciate the effort that goes into this place!

Real old school Italian feel. Had an actual lounge singer! Chicken parm was on point. Next time it will be the scampi

Grew up in Tyler but this was Ist time I’ve been to Mario’s in about 25yrs, I guess the original owner Mario passed away. Ordered the veal piccata but apparently they don’t know how to make it. It had Marsala sauce on it with capers, very odd. They said, “but you’ve never had ours” yes, but yours is wrong. Veal piccata has a creamy lemon sauce with capers, not Marsala. Was caught off guard by the sauce, so I might have had dry chicken instead of veal. 🤷 I’m Italian and have been servicing restaurants in Dallas for 32 yrs, but what do I know…LOL
