Walking into Catfish King on South Valley Mills in Waco, I was met with a scene straight out of a Texas roadside diner playbook—rustic wooden walls, dim lighting, and an atmosphere that leaned more toward functional than inviting. The counter greeted me first, along with an employee who, when asked how his day was going, responded with, “It’s tolerable.” Not great, not bad—just tolerable. That set the tone for what was to come.

Went there for the first time and the food was really good. Got the catfish dinner plate and basket. Catfish was tasty. Fries were decent. Coleslaw and beans were mid. Hush puppies were forgettable. The prices are great for what you get. I recommend for the catfish alone.

Haven't been to a catfish king since I was a kid I seen this one passing by and it brought back memories so I stopped n and the service was excellent
