One of the best in waxahachie in terms of atmosphere and attention. In terms of food quality and variety, there is much room for improvement.

Finally made it into Big Al's in Waxahatchie. Festive place. Pretty large dining room and bar. Several beers on tap. Specialty drinks available. Food is okay. Nothing to drive out the way for. Decent price food and drinks. Karaoke and live music available. Saw Big Al. But didn't get to meet him. Lot's of television sets to watch all your favorite sports.

It's not worth the stop.Let me start by saying it was the billboard advertising that prompted the visit. I was looking forward to supporting a Black-owned business and expected some tasty, well-seasoned, fresh food. We were extremely disappointed.Walked in, made eye contact with the owner who then looked the other way as if we hadn't just walked into his establishment. We had to nearly walk all the way (back half of the restaurant) to the bar to receive an acknowledgment. Thankfully the waitress we had was attentive.Expected a better selection of food, but it was all basic.Ordered:1. Big Al's Burger and fries (nothing special at all, frozen meat)2. Brisket burger with fries (the meat tasted old and microwaved. I took one bite, chewed once, and discontinued eating any more of that. (The meat tasted rotten AND microwaved, it was terrible ?)!3. Bacon Jalapeños lacked seasoning and heat. There were jalapeños with absolutely NO kick to them. Just bland!!The best thing about the food was the fries and even those I had to add salt to because they were served saltless. There are TV's everywhere to watch sports so it's probably great fun on game nights! But it is absolutely a NO for food!

I have heard so many great things about this place so I decided to give it a try. I was not impressed by anything here except the lively atmosphere. In my party of five, entrees came out one by one, and they were cold, as if they had been sitting on a counter for 20 minutes. Queso was simply Velveeta with tomatoes in it, Mac and cheese tasted like the boxed kind, chicken on the volcano nachos was cold to the touch, mashed potatoes tasted like they sat out overnight and were cold, buffalo weeks were bland and cold, french fries soggy, and u guessed it, cold! Overall, would not recommend this place!!!

The wings were on point. Jennifer was my waitress and she was attentive and pleasant. I come to Waxahachie about 2 times a year and this might be the spot when I’m in town. Thanks for the hospitality!

Karaoke? Sad excuse for it... The list was cut off for the DJ's wife and kid plus 2nd DJ to showboat. Couldn't add a few extra songs for paying customers.. I mean, you own the Karaoke equipment, you can sing and much as you want and stop those damn annoying stock sounds with claps and goal horn, even during the song someone is singing. Overpriced small drinks are less than desirable. Want to do a setup for folks to have a good time? Take a bit more effort in planning your place out to ensure the audience has ample space to see the singers and feel comfortable stop overcharging.

the food and portions were great. the chicken fried steak actually had a real steak in it. not your typical tenderized back strap beaten til it was micro thin but a nice thick cut of meat. rare to experience these days. most are mostly breading. two thumbs up! Jude Rose, our server, was having her 19th birthday on our visit. so im not sure if she is always that happy but i couldnt have asked for better service i will be going back soon

Came in at 1:30pm so the place wasn't busy. Ordered 20 wings and asked about sides? How much? As it's not listed on the menu. Waitress looks stunned and says. "They're all different" okay not the answer I wanted but we proceeded to ask, how much for a house salad? "or $4-5?" husband says okay we will take that. She asks what dressing? What do you have we asked again? Ranch and Blue Cheese. Do you have Thousand Island? No ranch and blue cheese she responds. Ranch we answer. Then she asks do you want a side? My husband says no just the salad. She responds "oh you want a salad?" what dressing? And then she has to think what salad dressing they have. When the wings came out. Several were undercooked and red inside (See pictures) as he attempted to eat some checking each one, finding more and more undercooked and the bite or two we did have tasted like old chicken. When she finally came over to check on us. My husband showed her the undercooked wings and said just take these off my ticket I'll eat the salad and pay you for it and the drinks. Her response was " I can't just take them off. I'll have to talk to the food manager. We'll apparently she talked to the food manger because next we know she drops off the bill and walks away. A little upset. But we were only charged for the salad and a diet coke (not a tea - (but maybe their the same we didn't care enough to argue at this point)

Definitely just a bar. Nothing exciting. Staff was rude when we asked about beer selection. Didn't eat there so I can't comment on that.

Well…..it was “good”? I went “off hours” so there was hardly anyone there. I got good service. The corn nuggets were quite yummy! The shrimp on the po’boy was good but the sandwich lacked flavor. Just mayo & lettuce. Much, much better in Galveston. The sweet tater fries were good. Crispy. Which was nice. I got a “Tall” beer for $8.50. Gotta hope they have better prices during happy hour.

There's one thing I've been wanting to try forever... Rocky mountain oysters (aka fried sheep testicles). I googled Rocky mountain oysters near me and Big Al's was one of the first ones to come up. I got very excited that it was close to me and I kept talking about going with my friend to try them. Finally the day came and I took a trip to the restaurant. The restaurant was fine and the service was actually pretty good. I went ahead and ordered big Al's juicy balls and was very excited to try them. They were finally ready and we're set right in front of me. My eyes were the size of saucers as I hungrily looked at the delightful appetizer. I dug in, dipped it in ranch, and took a bite. Very unfortunately I discovered that it was a fried ball if potatoes. Don't get me wrong... They were delicious and I really enjoyed them but I wanted Rocky mountain oysters! My disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined. The burger was pretty good and the fries were ok but a little soggy and wilted.

Went for the Hachie Gra festivities and this restaurant was very disappointing. The seating horrible! You have to almost fight to get a seat. I have never seen such. So unorganized! Ordered a brisket sandwich and the meat was fatty and tough. The drinks have a strange taste. Will not be returning.
