Great family restaurant and the history of the property is awesome! All of our food was amazing and the service was awesome! A must visit in Waxahachie!
We really enjoyed our first visit to Catfish Plantation! The old house location is super quaint, and the ghost stories associated with the location add a fun and spooky air as well. The food and service were both great! The Cajun-style catfish was absolutely delicious, as was the bread pudding! We will definitely be back, and would recommend to anyway visiting Hachie.
We visit here everytime we're in Waxahachie. They have some of the best catfish we've ever eaten especially with the spicy Cajun seasonings.
The plantation itself was very nice, however our service was not the best. We were squeezed at this tiny table with close contact with other people, I couldn't even hear my husband when he was talking to me. The food was ok, but disappointed in the sides. No Mashed Potatoes to have with friend chicken??Our waitress took for ever to get our order and my husband ask for a refill on his sweet tea 2 times and he still never got it. To me, the staff seems alittle off stable. Employees need to know more about the surroundings and not seat people so close together and the servers need to communicate better with their customers.
Catfish Plantation is a hidden gem that is cozy and quaint. The staff was friendly and very attentive. We decided to order several dishes because honestly we had a hard time picking just one. My absolute favorite appetizer was the meat pies. We ordered one of each and split it. Both were absolutely delicious. The portions are very generous, but you'll want to save some room for dessert. I tried the bread pudding and hubby ordered the peach cobbler. The bread pudding was warm, sweet, and yummy!!If you're ever in Waxahachie, I would definitely recommend popping in for a bite.
What a wonderful historical little treasure.Excellent southern hospitality and cuisine. The gator bites were so tender, the best we have tried yet. The chicken fried steak was the best we have had in a long time.A must visit restaurant!
Ordered the 3 PC. Catfish platter. The Catfish was extremely disappointing. The breading was chewy, and lacked flavor overall, even the cajun seasoned Catfish fell very flat. The fried okra was the only redeeming aspect of the food. Not worth $18 for decent fried okra. My first experience here most likely my last.
We have been to the Catfish Plantation throughout the years. We enjoy the historic atmosphere and the delicious food. We just want to mention that Jennifer, our server, made our visit this last time exceptional. She was extremely friendly and helped us with our orders. She also shared some ghost stories that made it even more exciting. Our food was delicious as expected. We will be back.
Catfish is delicious, okra is cooked really well, atmosphere is pleasant and clean. Didn't meet any of the local ghosts, but the service was excellent, and the food was good.
The onion rings were wonderful! The shrimp was great! The catfish was okay-ish.

We loved the family and the food it was an amazing visit
This place was amazing. The catfish was the best I’ve ever had, our server Jennifer was so sweet. I love the vibes here!
Had the Cajun fish and have to say I was very disappointed. The fish was all breading and no fish. But on a ok note the bread , hush puppies , okra and sweet tea was good. The service was as good as any one else working thru this Covid world.Probably will not be back, have had better catfish elsewhere.
Drove 2 hours for the Worst Catfish dinner. The gator bites were not good. Crab cake was hard as a day old biscuit. My granddaughter, who loves fried pickles, ate a couple of pickles and said Bad. The Bloody Mary was watered down, too much spice and very little alcohol. Big disappointment for a birthday dinner. 1st and last time to eat there.
This place is ABSOLUTELY awful!!! From the rude hostess to the terrible food and mediocre drinks I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.I visited this establishment back in 2018 and both my mother and I enjoyed our visit. It was because of that visit that I invited some friends and family to join me there for a bite this past weekend. Not only did our waitress exaggerate the items on the menu, she got numerous things wrong. The quality of the food and portion sizes were laughable. I ordered a blackened chicken meal, they brought out blackened whiting fish which they tried to pass as catfish SMH..... When they brought out the "corrected" order, my chicken looked like a medallion as opposed to a full breast. The waitress assured me that the bed of rice the dish was served with was dirty rice, instead my plate was sprinkled with rice that had a dash of seasoning salt on it. This place is a joke and my terrible experience there has superceded my visit in 2018 - NEVER AGAIN.N. BaldwinFlyteLyfeTravel AgentBoard Director-AACFA DFW Chapter
