Peak, as my daughter says. I have eaten at soooo many home cooking places over the years in several states. I’ve made my husband stop at tons of places claiming to have good pie. None of them has a dog in the hunt compared to this place. The homemade chocolate pie was seriously like my husband’s Nana’s. The chicken fried steak was tender; the green beans were yummmmm. My husband had the fried squash and we shared a plate of the hand-cut fries (which was what sold me on this stop). No offense to Tomball’s offerings of Mel’s and Goodson’s, but they just aren’t it. The real deal is outside of New Waverly waiting for you to eat your fill!! Oh, and shout out to Sharon for the being an awesome waitress and bringing the pie out first!! ❤️❤️

This place is AMAZING! Home cooking you can’t find anywhere these days! We could eat here 5 days a week! The service is EXCEPTIONAL! Driving 1.5 hours to eat here is worth it. Prices are more than reasonable

Don’t waste your time or your money. I don’t know how this ranked so high is beyond me. A hamburger and fries, absolutely NO! The fried catfish was ordered, no cornmeal fried and the grey gunk was to intact and tasted just like the name…a fish pond. We were sick after eating there.

I've eaten here several times, it's usually very crowded and a lot of the tables are too close together for a wheelchair. There is at least one pathway that is navigable that leads to several tables. That's one reason for the 2 stars on atmosphere. Also, while eating I noticed that the air ducts over the dining area were caked with dust and filthy. That was very off putting for me. Obviously they haven't been cleaned for a long time. The bathroom facilities are outside the restaurant proper and looked a little unsavory so I avoided them.
The food is usually good to excellent, but on this occasion the Chicken Fried Steak tasted a little off, like the meat wasn't fresh. It may be that the problem was with me because as I said usually the food is really good.
The service is good to excellent. Servers are polite, don't hover, and will ask before refilling your iced tea, which is one of my preferences.

We came in yesterday for dinner for our first time after hearing about this place ever since we moved to Willis. Krystal was our server and she was AMAZING. She spent time talking to us, telling us about the menu, answering all the questions my daughter had about the kids shrimp. The service was so amazing. All her recommendations were delicious, and she sent us with a menu after telling us about the breakfast. Needless to say we will be back just to see Krystal and try the breakfast. She also got us on their Jalapeño ranch which was to die for. Overall this place lived up to the hype and we definitely got that mom and pop diner service you hope for!
