What a great find. We were camping at Cagel Rec Area and headed to town for errands. Found this place online. Comfortable dining area, friendly staff, and the food is delicious. The sides are incredibly flavorful. I had chopped brisket (best I've ever had), baked potato casserole (tasty), and excellent pinto beans. Sevings are very generous. I would definitely go again if I lived in the area.

The new owners must have some financial issues. Several times I have been there and they’re out of meat. Yesterday they had no ribs sliced beef or chopped beef. And no onions

IF your lucky the food is great but they have inventory problems

I met with the owners mom for an appt at her home about some home remodeling. We had a great conversation about her home, but mostly about BBQ. She sent me over to the restaurant and even paid for my lunch. I had the ribs, sliced brisket, and potato salad. The food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! I’m in Willis for work quite often and I’ll make sure to come back! Everybody there was so polite, and it just reminds me of a good ole country cooking and southern hospitality. Something like this always reminds me why I love being a Texan! 10/10 recommend!

I really wanted to like this place & like the food. Went on a weekend afternoon & chatted and ordered from what I presumed was the manager of the restaurant. Told them I loved brisket and that I heard they served great bbq. Order brisket, ribs, and a few of the sides.

Good part - the sides were very solid & would definitely order again. Bad part - everything else. The brisket tasted like a thanksgiving roast, not nearly what true Texas brisket should be. The ribs were halfway decent, but nothing super memorable.

I waited a while to write this review because I didn’t want to be truthful, but I feel I was doing a disservice.

This is definitely a one and day restaurant, in my own opinion. I wish them the best!

Small little quiet place, great service! We had the my ribs and brisket plates with two sides. Brisket is by far the best we've ever had, it's sliced thickly and hardly any fat on it which I love and also very soft! The lady in the front was such a sweetheart & that's always a plus for me! If you're in the area, please come by to eat there or just take it with you, I recommend it! Two thumbs up 👍👍

When Danny and Gayla own this place, I was one of their biggest fans. Since they sold to a new owner, the service side of the restaurant has fallen to subpar. First time I went into the restaurant after it was sold I ordered the rib plate, what I got were the smallest driest petrified looking ribs I have ever seen. I ate the sides and left. Next time I went through the drive-in window got a sliced beef sandwich drove 5 minutes down to the boat launch open the sandwich and it was ice cold. The next time I went up to the drive-in window there was one vehicle in front of me. I sat there for 15 minutes while the girl in the window chatted up the people in the car. I finally backed up and left telling myself I would not return. I guarantee you 100% this last experience would never have happened had Danny and Gala still been there. They would have had that first vehicle pull off into the parking lot to make the next customer in line able to place a order. So the kids that they have running the barbecue shop have ruined it in my opinion.

In response to your reply, I removed my comments from 4 years ago because they were for Dannt and Gayla. Your operation doesn't deserve a 4 star rating. And as to your weak attempt to distract my comments of your current evaluation, nice try but you didn't mention the our quality of the food your people served my on my previous visits. Your attempt to defend a 15 minute review of the order is pure fantasy. Wkhy? Because it was obvious she was flirting with the guys ahead of me. So have a nice day,I hope your operation survives the poor service.

Great BBQ at great prices, we almost forgot to take a picture! Potato salad was creamy, baked beans perfectly seasoned, and the one-meat platter was a hit. They sell out quick, so call ahead. Love their motto: God, Family & BBQ amen to that!

Doesn’t look like much from the outside. As a matter of fact you could miss it if not looking but we were looking! Had this place recommended and been wanting to try. Go early or call to make sure they haven’t run out.
Didn’t disappoint at all. Food was amazing. Sliced beef and chicken plate was tender and smoked really well. Sauce was thick and sticky. Just the way I like it. Baked potato salad was delicious. Beans were pretty basic and didn’t care for Cole slaw. Even eating in everything was packed to go?? No sauce or beverages available for self serve. Despite those negatives I would 100% go again. Great food!! Hidden gem in Willis.
