Service was great. The food wasn't. My cheeseburger was room temperature/cold & dry. Crab balls were fishy tasting & mushy, like mashed potatoes. The mushrooms were good. The Bloody Mary I had was not too great. We've ate at Charlie's a few times. It's been a 50/50 chance of the food being good.
They wouldn't let us bring in our freaking service dog! Screw them!

The staff and owners are over the top rude. After paying to get in we were chased down and told we needed to go pay or get out. We showed wrist bands and the bouncer said “oh” and just walked away. It was 20.00 a person to get in, there were three people there but then an hour after we got there they told us they were closing early we had to leave. I made a comment about a group of people at the bar still drinking they said they were friends with the owner so they could stay and pushed us out the door. The drinks were waaaay over priced and half size. Overall its a really bad atmosphere and over priced for a dive bar (not the good kind of dive bar either)
Just to clarify - this is a honky tonk bar with a restaurant attached rather than a restaurant with a bar. The bar is a really fun place to hang out. The servers were friendly. Beer prices are good. The place feels a little run down, but it was surprisingly clean, even the restrooms. The menu in the restaurant is mainly comfort food. Nothing spectacular but tasty and large portions and decent prices.

This had to be a diamond in rough if anyone is in between Houston and high Island this spot is a must stop. I haven't had a Burger this delicious in decades. The waitress was sweet and helpful and it felt very old fashioned in Charlie's. This will be mine and my family's stop from now on when traveling anywhere near here.
