Donuts in Winters, TX

“I was visiting Winters for a week. Donuts (from independent donut shops) are a thing my husband and I love to try when we're traveling. Where we live (Brooklyn), there are fancy donut shops and chains, but it's hard to find delicious basic donuts. The people of Winters do not have this problem for sure! We first tried Winters Donuts mid-week and my only regret was that I didn't start this love affair on day one. They were so good! Just their basic glazed yeast donut was like a dream of cloud like fried dough and sweet glaze. And their Boston Creme (or rather the pudding with chocolate on top--called something else down here) was perfect--delicious vanilla pudding (that didn't have that nasty instant pudding taste of most donut shops), an excellent yeast donut, and the right amount of chocolate. My husband tried their kolachies and said they were some of the best he's tried. Their jelly donuts had real flavor, not just that sugar gel you sometimes get. I bought a dozen of their donut holes for my trip back and they were gone in an embarrassingly short time. The owners were very friendly too, but even if they had been rude I would have gone back for these amazing donuts.“
