La Costa Mexican Restaurant

Purchased dinner on 12/6/2025 and our server was Bridget. Meal was $75 and i tipped her 20% for a total of $90. When i looked at my credit card statement Bridget has increased the amount of her tip to $20 without my approval. When I went to call the merchant, they didn't answer and the mailbox was full. Ok food, just some bad actors there. Go to La Hacienda in Draper where they don't rip you off!

EDIT: We recently visited this restaurant, and it feels like things have gone downhill. The prices have gone up, the portion sizes have gone down, the food quality wasn't what I remember from previous visits, and they are charging for additional chips/salsa (never a good sign for a Mexican restaurant). I doubt we will go back, there are plenty of other Mexican restaurants with better prices, better food, and free chips/salsa. Also the heater in the room we were in was a little on the loud side, made it a little harder to have a conversation.

Roxy, my waitress is always wonderful. I had my favorite, Shrimp Enchiladas with tomatillo sauce (green sauce).

From the time we walked in, service was cheerful and attentive. After being seated we were brought complimentary salsa and bean dip. A refill was $1.50 and worth it. The food was served quickly and was hot. My 4 year old grandson loved the kids enchilada and ate every bite. I would 100% recommend.

Won't eat here, if they can't be bothered to take care of the outside, who knows how nasty their kitchen is. They obviously don't care about anything. Nasty!

I have been coming here for years. The food is pretty good and service is decent. My last 3 visits (all within the last 6 months) have left me irritated to the point that last night was my final visit to this restaurant. My order on each of the last 3 visits has been very wrong. I usually don't like to complain and will just eat what is brought out to me. Last night, I decided to tell the server that I was frustrated. She laughed. This is a server that I like and she does a good job. I also understand she may have laughed as a response to being put on the spot. Anyway, this is a restaurant with good food and decent service. However, if you are looking to get and pay for what you ordered, I would be hesitant to give them a positive review in that regard. I will no longer be a patron of la Costa in American Fork, Utah.

They do not serve authentic Mexican food. It is very bland and tasteless. It smelt bad in the restaurant and we were the only people there. I immediately felt sick after eating my dish, which I didn't even finish. The restaurant is old and sticky so the atmosphere isn't pleasant either. Won't be returning.

Lucky we sat in the back because the front smelled like sewage.

Don’t eat here. They don’t clean up after each customer and the service is so bad. We ordered a soft taco and received a hard one and the waitress bought a soft taco shell and wanted us make it ourselves out of the wrong taco they served us. I hope the owner reads this.

***Update 2*** I has now been just under a month since we ate here, and since we have tried to reach out to the GM, Assit Manager, owner literally anyone to get a refund on our horrible rotten tasting food, and they did comment below as you can see, however it has been 2 weeks since I first emailed them and they have not responded with ANYTHING not even a lousy coupon. This is a poorly ran establishment and I would save your money!! They are just trying to get every single penny out of you. It should not take a month for someone to at least reach out and say something! This feels like theft because we didn’t even eat the food. I just want our refund back!

***UPDATE: 2 days Later, have called into the restaurant everyday since we ate there almost a week ago, and STILL NOTHING! This is so poorly ran they obviously scamming people with how much they nickel and dime people. And they keeping our $50 under lock and key!! This is ridiculous!***
We have called numerous times to get ahold of a manager to issue a refund. We have been thrown around and no one has called us back. When we got home we called into the restaurant only to be ran around to find someone who spoke good English. Which is fine! However the lady who we spoke to was getting upset with us and demanded we bring back the food to show them that we didn’t eat it. I explained that we only took the chimi and chicken nuggets, the shredded beef burrito was STILL on the plate when we left. She said to bring back the food, I said I’m not digging it out of the trash. My husband had decided to just throw it away and waste the money instead of trying to eat it to save what we spent on the meal. All in all bad customer service and service at all. You don’t ask some one to bring food back. The food we ordered was awful and I wasn’t even able to finish my food because the shredded beef burrito was soooo bad! The chimi was burnt and so were my son’s chicken nuggets that he didn’t even finish either. The place smelled like a bathroom right when you walked in. The fish tank we were sat by smelled too. ALL we want is a refund on our order!

Okay first off I just have to say if you live or are in American fork you have got to eat here if you like Mexican food.
This is the second time I've eaten at this location and I had to give a review the second time around cuz I am blown away by how delicious these nachos are. Huge order tastes amazing they made him exactly as I wanted it. The waitress read back to me the menu to make sure I had everything I wanted. I decided to make it an order to go because I did not like the sound with my own preferences but I am telling you they are thorough and great communication. But the best part is the food is incredible! I drive all the way to Texas just to eat authentic Mexican food and I feel like I just hit the jackpot with this place. I'm very picky person on this place is most definitely on my favorite lists. I would probably have a hard time sitting and having a conversation with someone but I would definitely get their food and tip the waitress well because that kind of communication with the specifics was on point.

Picky eater highly recommends! This is enough food for a family of four easily and it was under 20 bucks.
