Sol Agave serves Mexican dishes with their own unique twist. The menu offers options for pork, chicken, beef, and prawns. Fajitas, carnitas, tacos, and burritos are designed to be assembled by the person eating them. Small pots of rice, beans, grilled onion and pepper, and melted cheese are served with two small tortillas. There is a large portion of meat for the entree, but not enough of the sides to compliment the meal. Sol Agave's popularity attracts lots of people, and I had to strain to hear some conversations as the noise level is high. The food was good, but not especially exciting. If anything it is overpriced and hard to assemble. While the upscale contemporary atmosphere is pleasant and inviting the number of guests in the restaurant is overwhelming. This was my first visit to Sol Agave. I attended an office party for a group of 10 people at 6 PM on a Friday evening. There was a long line of people waiting to be seated. The group I was with had a reservation, so I was able to walk right in. I definitely recommend a reservation to avoid the 30-60 minutes wait. I ordered the pork carnitas which I assembled myself. I was not given a choice of black beans or refried beans, (my preference is black beans) and the side was so small it was gone too fast. I expected the meat to be shredded but instead the pork arrived in a large block that cut myself. There was more than half the meat left after I built two carnitas, and I finished the pork and grilled veggies on their own. The best part of the meal was dessert in the form of a butter cake with ice cream. A delicious end to an otherwise fatty, disappointing piece of pork.
