Great food! Clean, pleasant eating area :)
Nice place for a quick bite. Has daily lunch specials. Inexpensive. Friendly staff.
Visitor center is closed for COVID, but the auto loop is still available. Dirt road we went in August so birds were somewhat limited. Awesome pelicans, took about and hour and a half for the loop.
We went in the afternoon and next morning and the morning was much better. It was hot so not as many birds as we hoped but still a beautiful drive with great habitat. Would definitely recommend to bird lovers.
This was a great auto tour. We took many bird and landscape photographs. Highly recommend this if into nature photography.
The birds and the flooding are seasonal and I imagine different times provide vastly different viewing experiences as the like shrinks into marshes, ponds and dry land. The ranger station was closed due to Cov19, but it would help if it had better directions to the road and perhaps an outside display of the most common birds. The road is open, however, and I saw many herons, pelicans, swans, egrets, avocets, flocks of ibis, yellow-breasted and red-winged blackbirds, raptors .... Definitely worth a visit.
The bird refuse is a unique place that birds and other animals call home. It has a interactive Activities inside for children and a gift shop. You can take walks around a pond and there is trails with a boardwalk or hard packed dirt. It is not for a day trip but just a few hours. Then you can get in a car and do a auto tour. However, little ones will get bored quickly unless you plan ahead with a game of bingo, of what kinds of birds you see or something like that. Go further down the road and go to the bird refuse where there is a high tower to look over the river and birds. Stop at the information sign and pick up the bird brochure of all the bird you can see. In Feburary you can see Bald Eagles. Take a drive while you are in the area to the Golden Spike Historical park and the Spiral Jetty.

Great restaurant, and quickly becoming my favorite place for lunch. Everything on the menu I've had tastes great, and you get a full meal with sandwich, side, drink and dessert for under $8. I'm
Great daily specials. They will make any sandwich into a salad. The calzones are great. All freshly baked.
