Lucky to be one of the last groups to have a meal at The Lodge at Maddox as they are closing after today. Such good people! They deserve time to themselves after many years of hosting others. Being there brings back memories of growing up in my grandparents restaurant. Love the atmosphere. Love the staff. Love the hot fresh rolls, corn pones, but especially the raspberry butter.
Always good food. Chicken fried steak with strawberry pie! We had a large family gathering and they were able to accommodate us easily with quick service. Much faster than other places I have been to. It's worth the drive!
Maddox is a local powerhouse, but like many long-popular eating locations they've kind of outlived their quality. Generally I think it's overpriced and you'd get equal or better food at a local diner or even a chain. I do have a soft spot for their shrimp steaks, but you can pick those up frozen and take them home if you want.
