Carnitas is my go to food, the grilled chicken was good too and I usually get the taco. I love the crispy tortilla for their tacos. My kids loves the soup. This particular location was okay, it didn't feel cozy. they ran out of ice and it took a while to refill.

Don’t. Just… don’t. Costa Vida and Chipotle are within 2 blocks and appear to care about the food quality. Disappointing….

The best time to go is definitely in the evening, because whoever works during that shift actually knows how to make a good salad with even proportions!

I’ve been going to Café Rio for a couple of years now since moving here for college, and I’ve noticed they are not consistent at all with making orders. I ordered a salad with black beans, sweet pork, house dressing, and everything on it but I ended up going home with something that looked like a soft taco meal. I’m honestly not even sure what it was.

It’s frustrating that I now have to check my bag every single time just to make sure they got it right. This has happened 4 times already in the last 3 months.

Overall, the inconsistency and mistakes are disappointing, especially after being a regular for years.

Today was a big fail. Placed a pickup order at 3:00 PM to have food ready when we arrived as we were driving to the location with a family and a hungry toddler.

We show up at the location at 3:40 and the order is nowhere to be seen. Our pick up ready time in the app was 3:30-3:40 PM. Upon asking the worker about the order, she turns around and picks up our order receipt and says that she will get working on it. The order had not even been started at all. The worker making our order was friendly but she was completing it alone while the other workers chatted with each other about playing Roblox later. Over 40 people in the order line plus many drive through orders were served before our order started rolling out. At around 4:00 PM they informed us they were out of steak. We changed the order to grilled chicken, and they told us it would be fresh and be right up. 15 minutes later we go up and they tell us they are out of chicken and that it was never ready and that they are making it now. 10 minutes later we finally got the last part of our order at 4:20 PM.

Our order was finished 1 hour and 20 minutes after it was ordered. They served many people before finishing our order which meant they ran out of the steak and chicken pushing our order even further back. One worker offered us free chips and queso which we happily accepted. The person fixing our food was friendly but the rest of the staff were unbothered. Trashes were full and tables only started getting bussed when we were leaving. The women’s bathroom was also out of toilet paper.

First time I have had this bad of an issue at this location ( used to eat here monthly) but running out of food and then not attempting to make it right after an online order wasn’t acceptable. My corn salsa that I order had maybe 5 total pieces to it (2 kernels, a piece of onion and a piece or two of tomato). My wife’s meal appeared correct but mine was absolutely lacking. The other issue is that we ordered a large horchata and when I got to the counter to pickup my order, they said they were all out for the night, they didn’t have any other substitutes that I wanted and I don’t drink soda so I had to settle on something else. I would have thought at least a partial refund or something would have been possible but it sadly wasn’t.

I’ve run into issues at the St George Cafe Rio locations like this, but not the Cedar location. Safe to say, I understand why the line to Costa Vida is backed up out of the parking lot and this cafe rio was just about empty. Very bummed to see this location starting to fail at this level.

It's a nice family place for lunches but not the atmosphere for a sit down with a date. The food is quite good with good portions.

Whitney was very friendly and took care of my order in a quick, attentive manner. I appreciate her service and attitude as an employee and her recognition of me as an avid customer! Whitney, Sean, Amber, and Cafe Rio Cedar City are the best! Easily in my wife MaKayla and I's top 5 restaurants! 😁

Best

They were friendly, the only thing that glitched was the app. It didn't include fajita veggies on the receipt. Wish they had churros for dessert. The building could use a slight interior remodel.

WORST EXPERIENCE. Do not stop here, ever. One employee seemed really nice, she was hustling around to help everyone, not sure about the others because they didn’t help us, but the man at the checkout… maybe he should consider a different profession that doesn’t involve people. He started by yelling at my kids for swinging on the poles, which, I’ll give him that one. That’s fine. Then, he was extremely upset when I mentioned we also had a quesadilla. Guess we shouldn’t have paid for it? Weirdly slamming our food down on the trays. And you would have thought I insulted his mother when I asked for a drink. I honestly felt threatened by his behavior, like what’s next? A knuckle sandwich? Not to mention being stared down while I was eating my meal making me think it was my last. Did he recently have to repair the poles because of kids? Does he hate kids? Does he hate his job? Did he just receive some upsetting news in the parking lot and he is taking it out on me and my family? What’s up? So weird and uncomfortable. Do not stop here. EVER.

I prefer the food of Cafe Rio to Costa Vida but I will be eating at the Costa Vida in town from now on. I have been to this Cafe Rio location three times and all three times the service has been appalling. The first two times I ordered through the drive through and their language and behavior was entirely unprofessional. Tonight I ordered online, thinking that maybe the drive through was inconvenient and that’s why they were so rude. The service I received at the pick up counter was unbelievable. There was someone in front of me in the line so I didn’t immediately approach the counter. When someone asked if I had been helped I explained that I had a pick-up order. A man walked over and aggressively slammed my food on the counter while looking me in the eye. When I walked over to make sure it was mine he said my name and very aggressively shoved it towards me. Along with that, they gave me the wrong drink size and did not include my rice or beans. I don’t know where the absolute unprofessionalism of this establishment stems from but they need to fix it. I do not recommend eating at this Cafe Rio location until they do.
