Kiva Koffee House
We stopped here on our trip around the Grand Staircase and were delighted by this beautiful coffee shop. It is set up as a semi circle with the coffee bar and kitchen at the straight end. There are wrap around floor to ceiling windows that showcase the beautiful scenery and the supporting structures are thick polished tree trunk pillars between each window. They took as much care of the landscaping and outside of the building as they did the inside and walking in the front door feels like a mini oasis in the desert. There is ample parking and the shop is ADA accessible.
The shop supports local artists and there are paintings, gorgeous ceramic pottery, and Navajo style beadwork jewelry for sale.
The ambiance is relaxed and enjoyable and the service is fast. We especially loved the chai tea latte which was reminiscent of a warm gingerbread cookie with the right balance of sweet and spicy. The pastries were delicious and there are gluten free and vegan options as well for various menu items.
The customer service was above and beyond, and their manager Sarah was especially helpful with giving us directions to the best places in the area. Jeremy was also very kind and helpful, and overall the staff seemed cohesive, cheerful, and worked well together.
If you are visiting the area this is definitely a good place to stop: for the ambience, the food, and to take home a handmade souvenir that embodies the spirit of Escalante without being touristy. Thank you Kiva Koffee House for your great service!
What a great location! Whether you just got done hiking, lower calf, Creek Falls, or Escalante river, or driving the beautiful scenic Highway 12, this is a cute place to stop for refreshments and amazing views.
The blackberry muffin was delicious and the Americano was decent, but the espresso was atrocious. After having such amazing espresso in Torrey, Utah at Dark Sky Coffee, this espresso was bitter, thick, burnt, with an awful aftertaste.
So stick with a different drink
But! The staff was friendly and informative, the place is clean, the muffins are delicious albeit slightly overpriced at six dollars each muffin .
But relax and enjoy the absolutely gorgeous views !!
Holy trinity of amazing location, great service and coffee/food. Coolest coffee shop I’ve ever been to.
The place and the views are beautiful and the coffee is very good. But for almost $5 I expected a natural juice and no one from the supermarket. I felt a little bit scammed for this reason
Cool vibes, nice staff, good coffee.
My husband and I went in here grumpy and looking for a pick-me-up. I saw they had one raspberry and vanilla scone left and was excited to get it because we were next in line. Then a foreign couple cut in front of us. When we tried to explain we were next in line the guy just raised his arms and stayed put. and of course he ordered the last scone. We mentioned this off handedly to the main guy taking orders. We placed our order of 2 mochas and waited, still grumpy. and then the guy who took our order came out with a bag and said it was the tail end of their scone batter and he was saving it for an employee but gave it to us free of charge because of what happened. It turned our whole day around. Even if the scone and mochas weren't good (which, they were delicious!) I would give this place 5 stars. You don't see that type of service anywhere nowadays. Amazing. Highly recommend!
A beautiful place for coffee and more. Good coffee, excellent service, impressive view, and the building is beautiful.
Amazing view! Beautiful rustic setting. Indoor & outdoor seating.
Very friendly staff. Excellent customer service . Rock has great stories to share!
On the balcony, the tables and chairs were great and not uncomfortable. And the view was outstanding! However, the food was disappointing: the cappucino was bad, the green juice was not to our liking. They also messed up our order of cake, and oversold the last piece we had ordered. The antioxidant force (mixed fruit) was bitter and did not really taste natural. And the ice tea tasted like plain water. But, the lemonade was very good.
What a treat! So glad we stopped here. Rock was awesome, his cheerfulness as he waited on us was welcoming. The vibe, coffee, tiramisu & berry square were all excellent. Cannot beat the view and atmosphere!
I left my credit card there and Jeremy assured me he’d cut it up unless he wanted him to mail it. He is an EMT in training and working here meanwhile. The best dressed barrister anywhere! (He made is euro style shirt!, his talents appreciated.)
Thx folks for a great mtn top adventure
We almost missed this place, but so glad we didn't. There was only a small sign out on the road and with the building being tucked into the hillside, it is almost hidden. We walked into the Kiva (not expecting much in such a remote location) and were awed by the calm ambiance, the majestic view, and the rustic architectural details (i.e. washroom). The coffee and blueberry scones were delicious, but the view was simply incredible with a river of trees in the bottom of the valley all turning yellow. I don't know if it was the visual spectacle or something they put in my coffee -- but I'm still hopped up from it and bragging on the Kiva Koffeehouse experience!!
The turkey sandwich and cappuccino was excellent 👌 The view from the restaurant is world class. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area.
This is a must stop. The place is so unique and overlooks the canyons, it’s truely breath taking. The service was wonderful. They have outdoor seating where you can have your dog ❤️🐾 I took off a star because the coffee was mediocre, it’s not bad but not great. Also the muffin was very bland, my dog did love the muffin though :) The experience was worth it and the views are incredible. If it wasn’t for the location I wouldn’t recommend the coffee or muffins.
Awesome coffee in a beautiful location. The tiramisu was excellent as well!
