Placed a mobile order at this location. Showed up to pick it up and it wasn’t ready. After standing there waiting for several minutes, the employee seemed put out to tell me it wasn’t ready (frankly, i think they ignore the mobile orders in favor of people at the counter), and that I could come back in 5 minutes. I came back, waited an additional 5 minutes to get anyone’s attention, and then watched him grab the bag that had been sitting for who knows how long. This was just chips and queso. There was not nearly enough queso provided. It was a bad experience.
But it gets worse. I reached out for resolution. I got a response from “Valentin” who said, “I’ll talk to them about portions.” No mention of the wait or the miserable way I was treated. No “give us another chance” or “let us make this right.” Just “Hey. I don’t care, but since I’m required to respond, I’ll pretend we’ll address it.” Who’s he gonna talk to? He didn’t ask for more information, so obviously he doesn’t care.
So, Costa Vida overall is great. This location? Nope! Frankly, things have to be pretty bad for me to want to post. I assure you, it was.
I should also mention that I read the reviews about this location. A response from the “owner” from 5 months ago promises “immediate action.” Given that nothing has changed, it’s apparently not a priority.
*update. You can see that the owner responded to my review. The response was vague and meaningless and EXACTLY what I mentioned above. When the owner says, “We’ll address it,” but obviously doesn’t (as you can see from the string of negative reviews and no apparent changes by management), they might as well just say “take your business elsewhere. we don’t care.” They don’t. I will.
My daughter and I decided to try out this spot on a lark as we were in search of a place for a decent lunch while driving back to Salt Lake City after visiting Antelope Island State Park while on holiday, and this place really hit the spot in a good way with a decent Mexican food that one orders at the counter. The place has a cheerful upbeat ambiance and looks clean. I found the staff helpful and cordial, and we left thinking we made the right choice in finding this place which is located in a shopping mall. When one wants a break from pizza or burgers and fries, then this place should be on your list.

Honestly until they bring back their normal sized queso containers it’s just not worth it. $6 for a queso that you can barely split with two people?? I’d rather go to Cafe

Always good food. Had the grilled chicken enchiladas. The staff were pleasant and the place clean. The only downer is that it was rather noisy - the sound seemed to echo. Other than that, it was A-okay.

I just ordered a bowl I’ve never seen portion sizes that small at costa Vida or similar in my life between the rice beans and meat and extras the entire contents of my bowl was the size of my first I asked for more he clearly got upset so I said I’ll pay extra and the extra he put on was a litteral sprinkle which I was charged extra for I’ll never come back to this location I will now be going to a different restaurant to order more food… as I’m still very hungry

Food is good, but they halved (or told me they halved) the size of many of their sides today. It’s also not the most consistent location as a lot of things are either missing or wrong (guac instead of queso, wrong sauce). Unfortunately this location is starting to go downhill, which is sad because the Cafe Rio across the street has already hit rock bottom

I went around to other establishments asking for a charger as I waited for my train. I work in the food business and understand that the likelihood that no one had a charger was very low, yet no one seemed to be willing to help out until I got to Costa Vida. It seems like such a simple thing but to me it meant the world. Great food and great customer service

It’s usually pretty busy here, keep that in mind! A lot of people love Costa Vida so you’re going to be waiting in line and working to find a spot to sit. That being said, they do a good job on service here and the food is good. Watch for their deals, they send some in the mail and on their app. Their drinks are usually pretty good, though some can be watery. Even still worth a try if you’ve never tried horchata or some of their lemonades. If you need a small (cheaper) bite, or smaller portion sizes their kids taco is a great deal.

I just read a recent review and I agree. The staff is terrible and not friendly. They seemed annoyed by everything I asked for. The interaction with multiple employees was horrible. I will go to the Layton or Riverdale location from now on. Please hire better employees that actually care about customer service.

Rushed service messes up orders. Hilarious to watch.

Good food, great service, always fresh. I find it a little higher price than I would like, and the restaurant is noisy. Not enough sound absorbing material in the design.
Dietary restrictions: They will really work to give you gluten free. Fresh gloves, aluminum foil to keep the corn tortillas off the grill. Little things like that.
Parking: Plenty, they are in a large shopping plaza.
